"Ah...I'm sorry if I reminded you of something painful..." He hadn't meant to upset her. Perhaps dancing was a bad memory for her?
As they turned around the floor he came to face the wall where Anri and Marshall were conversing. Something about Marshall's grin made him uneasy, and he almost pulled away from Shion to go rectify whatever lies he was telling. But just the mental mention of Shion was enough to remind him that he should be thinking of the pretty girl he was dancing with, not the troublesome boy all the way over there. He turned his attention back to her and gave her what he hoped was a reassuring smile.

Yellow was bright red. She couldn't believe she had actually done that in front of someone and it was even worse that he was still being nice about it. She had been sure he was going to laugh.
"It-It's fine." She took the glass of water and took a careful drink, finding to her astonishment that it really was water and not some crazy wizard drink that only looks like water.
"It wasn't your fault...it-it could have been anything." She was now incredibly nervous. He hadn't tried the one that she had picked out...what if he got something awful and it was all her fault?! But then again...that must be how Jim was feeling right about now...she gave him a small smile. "It wasn't that bad...just surprising."

Marshall flashed a smile at Anri before hopping up, making his way over to the table where Yellow and Jim had gathered. It seemed that Yellow had just come across one of the particularly nasty beans and was now trying to chug a glass of water.
"So, which flavor was it?" He leaned down, resting his elbows on the first years shoulders, which was more difficult and uncomfortable than he had first imagined. Yellow was really kind of short and he hadn't accounted for this. People should just be the right size for me to lean on them .

Watching as Marshall smiled ambiguously and walked away, Anri held back a sigh and decided that relationships were really beyond her understanding. Whether the smile was a confession or him brushing off the question she could not tell. Instead, she let herself relax and listen to the music. It was a nice song.

Shion shook her head lighty. "No no, you didn't." She returned his smile, and gave his shoulder a soft squeeze. As his eyes flicked over towards Marshall, she tried to sneak a glance as well, but she was facing the wrong way and couldn't see. "Oh, I hope he's not poisoning Anri-chan's mind..."

He chuckled. "I know what you mean. Perhaps we shouldn't have abandoned her back there with him."

Finally, she caught a good view of the group. "Well, he's pestering the first years now. They'll be alright." She grinned at him.

"Is he?" He craned his neck to see, but by now he was the one with his back to the others, so he had to trust Shion's word. "I hope he doesn't end up being a bad influence on Yellow. I think she likes him." Yellow had seemed to look up to the Slytherin boy ever since the Hogsmeade excursion.

Shion giggled a little. "So? If he does do something, I'll undo it. Yellow likes me too." She leaned up to Barnaby's ear and whispered. "And I'm not that bad of an influence, I promise."

He shivered, the memory that he'd convinced himself he'd invented rising unbidden in his mind-- that deranged smile of hers as she'd threatened him and Marshall. But he pulled a smile onto his face and aimed it down at her. "I'm sure you're not a bad influence," he replied.

Shion smiled back up at him. "You're very nice, Gumball."
Almost as nice as.... Shion blushed, turning her eyes to the floor.

Relaxing a bit to much, Anri leant back onto where should have been the wall. Unfortunately, she was much farther than anticipated, and found herself leaning back into thin air, unable to balance herself.

"Ah, thank y--" he was in the process of responding to her compliment when looked down, turning red. Did I say something wrong? he wondered. "Shion? Are you feeling alright?" His feet stopped of their own accord, and he peered down at her worriedly.

Shion turned redder then; she just couldn't stop making him worry, could she? "I'm sorry, you're just so nice, you remind me of someone..." She smiled almost sadly. "I really hate to make you worry, I swear I'm fine. Just some memories, you know?" She giggled and rubbed the back of her head out of habit, her blush fading. "I kinda ruined the moment, didn't I?" She slowly let her hand drop from her shoulder.

"No! It's fine. So I remind you of someone, huh?" He didn't get that often. "Someone else with pink hair maybe?" He tugged at his bangs sheepishly, trying to lighten the mood with a (terrible) joke.
