Izaya's gait was nearly skipping as he moved around his classroom in the dungeons, humming under his breath some far too cheerful tune as he set up the final touches after a summer of disuse. There were ingredients on the desks, set up in neat little rows of vials or trays, displaying each. A sheet of parchment now lay in front of each of these trays. He supposed that he could throw the students a bone and not expect them to have their parchment on the first day. It was, after all, an impromptu class that he had pulled together that would be open to any and all who were taking any level of potions this year.
He flicked his wand upwards towards the board and a piece of chalk came to life and began to scrawl across the board in a style very reminiscent of his own handwriting. It read:
Welcome Students!
As you have been made aware, this class is open to any and all students that are taking Potions this year at Hogwarts. Also, you may have noticed the sheets of parchment and ingredients on each table.
Please sort yourself into groups (by your own choice!) and label your paper with each letter listed by a mystery ingredient. Then sit quietly and wait for further instructions.
-Professor Orihara
With that on the board and feeling quite smug with himself the raven-haired professor moved to sit in a chair in a far corner of the classroom, one that might not be noticed immediately by his students as they trickled into the class. This was, of course, intentional. Almost everything that he did was intentional, after all. He would leave very little room for accidents or happenstance.
But the students, now this was his opportunity to observe each one and get to know them better... To see them as they walked into the classroom, observe how they grouped themselves, and finally he would be able to test their intelligence once they were seated and he could explain the rest of the drill to them.
"This'll be fun!" he allowed himself, spinning around in the chair once (whether by magic or some function of the chair, the world would never know) before he settled down silently, waiting to observe as the class trickled in.

Isabela walked in and gasped. ~What? No one?! Am I the FIRST?!~ She shook her head. This simply wouldn't do! Isabela Rivaini, first into a class. She sighed. She must have gotten the time wrong. Well, she wasn't about to go out and come in again, later, as the professor had probably already seen her. She glanced around the room. He wasn't visible, but in her experiences at Hogwarts it didn't mean he wasn't there.
She read the board, and chose a table toward the middle of the classroom. ~Groups?~ She hoped Shion, Anri, or Violet would show up. Or all three. They would be an unstoppable group. She carefully wrote down the letters on the paper as the board instructed, and waited.

Fenris walked in, and spotted the back of Isabela's wild black-ish hair imediately. And just as imediately, he veered away from her to sit in the corner. He could feel eyes on him, nd knew the teacher was probably watching. Quickly he wrote down the things he was supposed to and brought out his journal, writing yet another love poem.

Skidding to a stop just before she reached the classroom door, Anri straightened her crooked glasses and stepped into the potions class as undisruptively as she could. Anri had lost the information regarding the time of the lesson, so she didn't know if she was late or not. Entering, her eyes flitted over the words on the board and the three inhabitants. She wasn't late.
Relieved, she wove her way around a jumble of desks to sit across from Isabela, casually looking at the various supplies on the tables.

Not long after Fenris had scurried off into some far corner of the room, Masaomi strolled into class, relatively early for once, shocking himself somewhat. 'Eh,' he shrugged. Quickly skimming over the note on the board Masaomi looked around for anyone else in the room, only seeing Fenris, Anri, and another student he hadn't met. Fenris was over in a far corner, and Anri and the other girl were seated in the middle. Well, the choice was obvious here. Casually Masaomi made his way to the middle of the room and took a seat behind Anri. "Hello, hello~." He grinned, completely disregarding the message on the board to copy down the letters.

"Ah... it's Masaomi-san." Anri exclaimed softly. "How are you?" Her mind suddenly jumped to the rainy day on that field by the Forbidden Forest, and a wave of sadness swept through her.

Entering at a brisk pace, Gumball gave a sigh of relief once he noticed that he wasn't as late as he thought. Glancing around the room, he noticed Anri, one of his fellow Ravenclaws. He waved at her, but she seemed to be busy with the blond boy, so he chose a seat at a separate table and got to work on the letters, copying them neatly with quiet scratches of his quill. He wondered who else would be in this class.

Masaomi pouted, seeing the look on her face, realizing what she was probably thinking about. "I'm doing good, but I'd be feeling much better if Anri-chan were happy too~" He smiled poking at her cheek.

Enter: Fionna.
Said girl happily meandered into the classroom, Cake close on her heels. "Hey all!" she greeted everyone with a smile. Her eyes fell on her pink-haired friend, and she walked over to a seat next to him. "What's up BG?" Before she could sit, Cake leapt onto the desk table, and made a little perch for herself there. Fionna removed her hat, placing it on the cat's head instead.

She lifted a hand to gently push away Masaomi's probing finger, and produced a smile. "That's good. Does Masaomi-san know if anyone else we know is taking Potions?" It would be nice if more people she knew were to arrive.

Isabela smiled at the new boy. He seemed sweet, even if Anri didn't like him. "Isabela Rivaini!" She muttered, sticking her hand out. She wasn't sure if the boy had even noticed her, but she'd make sure he did now.

Violet peeked up through her hair as a Slytherin boy sat down next to her, obviously having not realized she was there. She had walked in right behind Isabela, but had avoided the girl for a quieter place on the other side of the room. Taking the headphones off her ears and hanging them around her neck, she once more looked at him with her one visible eye and muttered, "H-hi."

Fenris jumped, and imediately closed his notebook, doing the motion so fast it snapped his quill in half. "H-Hello!" He was startled by the girl. Had she just appeared out of nowhere, or been there the whole time? He stuck his hand out. "Fenris Candor. I don't believe we've met?"

Violet smiled, taking his hand cautiously and shaking it briefly. "M-my name is Violet Parr. No, we haven't met yet." She pointed at her tie. "We don't exactly hang in the same places." She fidgeted for a moment, playing with her hair. "Um, so, do you understand the assignment? I didn't really know what we were supposed to do..." She trailed off, looking at him.

He shrugged. "I really have no idea. I wish the Professor were in here. Then I could ask him." He thought. "Just because we're a Gryffindor and a Slytherin, doesn't mean we might never have met. I....know a Gryffindor."
