Belle is sitting at a table surrounded by books and parchment, a list of homework assignments mostly all crossed off. She sighs, giving herself a ten minute break before starting the last assignment, an essay from her divination class. So far this was the only class she was having a hard time with due to her inability to make the the right choices regarding predictions and fortellings. She looked around the common room, hoping for someone who would be able to help.

Not more than a few tables away, Gumball was also working on homework. However, he'd only just finished his last essay for the day. He shut the thick textbook with a sigh of relief, then looked around hastily, hoping his 'outburst' hadn't disturbed anybody. In most common rooms it wouldn't have been a big deal, but in the Ravenclaw common room? Where everyone was studying? Even just a loud sigh rang out like a shot.

Sitting in one of the armchairs, Mac worked on his own homework. A History of Magic essay. It was a pretty boring topic that they were discussing currently, in his opinion, and yet somehow he had already managed to write more than was required. And he wasn't even finished yet. Shaking his head at himself, he glanced up at Gumball's sigh of relief. The older boy was probably done with his homework then. Stretching out a few kinks in his neck and wrist, he went back to work on the essay, determined to finish it soon.

Descending the staircase from the girls' dormitory, Anri was greeted with the sight of three of her housemates, all working essays. She herself did not have any classwork to finish, but the Ravenclaw common room was always an excellent place to enjoy relative peace. Noticing that Belle had paused in writing and was looking around, Anri padded over to the girl and sat down across from her.

Belle's eyes focused from her daydream at the arrival of one of her housemates, Anri she recalled, and she gave the girl a weak smile and murmured so she wouldn't disturb anyone else, "No homework today Anri?" She put her quill down, somewhat happy to have an actual break instead of a stressed pause in her work.

Smiling softly at Belle, Anri nodded. "It's almost like a free day for me today." Glancing across the table at the various books and papers, she took a guess and wondered if Belle was doing Divination homework. "Are you still working on palm reading, or have you moved on to crystal balls?" Though she had dropped the class in her fourth year in favor of Arithmancy, Anri could still recall some of the topics that had been covered.
{OOC; I don't think second-years can take elective classes. If I remember correctly, Divination is third years and older. Buuuut, since Belle's a transfer student, this might be fine?}

((Initially, we were really small and most of our teachers taught electives and we handwaved it so they could be involved in the site~))

Belle's expression brightened a little bit at the topics mentioned and thought, 'Anri might be able to help me!'
"Well, at this moment it is crystal ball readings and those are so obtuse and general it is hard to write a topic essay on them. I am somewhat struggling with the concept."

The common room wasn't that large, so it was easy enough for Mac to hear the older girls' conversation from where he sat. As a first year, he couldn't take Divination yet, but it sounded like an interesting class. Using it as an excuse to take a short break, he stood up from the armchair, stretched out his cramped muscles, and walked over to the table. "Hey, do you mind if I listen in? I'm really looking forward to taking this class, and want to learn a bit more about it."

"Crystal ball readings..." resting her chin on her palm, Anri thought for a moment. "Did the professor ask you to write about the properties and concepts of the ball itself, or to analyze the images you see within the ball?"
Footsteps approached, and a boy came to stand by the table. Hearing Mac's question, Anri nodded at the brown-haired first-year. "I don't mind." She looked at Belle. It was Belle's essay, not hers.

Belle looked up at Mac and smiled, "Sure, I don't mind."
Then she addressed Anri's question, "The topic is the properties and the concepts of and to explain how one uses it with specific examples. In class we discussed this a little bit, but not in full detail and the book is pretty vague about it." She sighed, "I wish I could read my novel that is upstairs."

Pursing her lips, Anri asked, "Do you have a crystal ball on hand?" Explaining would be much easier if she could point out specific parts of the object. Looking to Mac, she pulled out a chair for him to sit on. Crystal balls were needlessly complicated in comparison to their relatively simple usage procedures, which meant that this could be a long conversation.

Mac smiled and took the chair offered to him. He pretty much understood what Belle's essay seemed to be about- crystal balls and how to use them- so he was excited to actually see it in action. He hoped one of the girls had a crystal ball because he wanted to find out what was so confusing about them.

Belle replied hesitantly, "I think I do somewhere....it was given to me by my father. He bought it somewhere and didn't know what it was and how to use it. He saw that I liked it so, voila, it should be in my trunk." Belle got up and walked up the stairs for the girls dormitory, disappearing from view.

Whilst Belle went to fetch the crystal ball, Anri pulled out a blank sheet of paper and drew a basic chart of images and their supposed meanings. It would probably help if Mac had some knowledge about the topic being discussed. "When you see the crystal ball, don't expect to see any of these images at first. However, on the off chance that you see more than some white swirling mist, this is a list of some of the most common images." The boy would probably want to try out the crystal ball when it arrived.
