Rita positioned herself and stared intensely at the scarecrow dummy she had prepared. The roughed up, charred, old thing was placed approximately 30 feet away from her. Around it, rings of blackened grass seemed to emanate from the pole upon witch it was mounted, which was also rather blackened as well.
This was the perfect time to get some research in. She had no classes for the remainder of the day, and it was just the thing she needed to get her mind off of the whole forest fiasco.
After pausing to steel a glance to the notebook she had laid out in the grass behind her, she took a deep breath and thrust her wand into the sky and brought it down rapidly in the direction of her target, resulting in a few quick flashes of electricity that only succeeded in lighting the ground around the scarecrow a flame. Again.
Sighing, Rita sat herself down on the grass and reached for her notepad, illegibly scrawling in adjustments to numbers and formulas nearly everywhere on the page.

Catching a hint of smoke in the air, Anri meandered in it's general direction. Out of the corner of her eye, she spotted a barely recognizable... scarecrow, and a short-haired girl. Curious about the scarecrow, she approached the girl. "Excuse me... am I bothering you?"

"No," Rita replied flatly without looking up from her notes. After writing in a few numbers here and there, she picked up her wand. "Aguamenti," She uttered, and let the stream of water douse the scarecrow and the grass around it, putting out the fire.

Having nothing better to do, Anri knelt down next to the girl. "May I watch?" she asked, half-glancing at the paper the girl was scribbling furiously on. It seemed to be filled with formulae; scratched out, rewritten, edited, and half-finished. Based on the state of the scarecrow and the concentrated demeanor of the girl, this situation was a work-in-progress.

Rita shrugged her shoulders and set down the pad. "Just make sure you don't get in the way," She replied, standing up and positioning herself for another go, her posture not quite the same as her previous attempt.

Shifting to make sure that she wouldn't be within the line of fire, Anri looked expectantly towards the girl. Based on the fire from earlier, she had a basic understanding of what the spell might do, but seeing it in action was sure to be interesting.

Classes were over for Terezi, so she had decided to go outside to get some fresh air and listen to the sounds of nature. Although, she really should have been studying, or at least doing something semi-productive. She had been dozing off when she heard the sounds of spells being cast.
It was the splashing sounds that really roused her, using her brilliant detective skills she deduced that the sound wasn't coming from the lake and decided to investigate. The pointy girl heaved herself up, grabbing her red and white cane as she did, to go find the cause of such unusual splashing.
Humming lightly to herself, she picked her way across the grounds until she saw three splotches that she assumed to be people, although one didn't really look human...
"Hey!" Terezi called out, a wide grin splitting her face. "I heard you practicing! Mind if I sit?"
