~Character Info~
Name: Count D (or “the Count”)
Series: Petshop of Horrors
Gender: Male
Age and year/Age and job: 45, Care of Magical Creatures Professor
Appearance: Count D is Chinese, and has shoulder length, thin black hair that covers the right half of his face. His entire demeanor is very womanly, so he is very often mistaken for a girl. His left eye is a lovely shade of dark orchid, while his right eye is a vibrant yellow. However, his hair hides his right eye. His lips are typically colored with a layer of purple or some other dark lipstick. He mostly wears feminine yukatas.
Personality: Count D, much like his appearance, is very feminine. He can be quite “damsel” like in a sort of way. He has a very strong weakness for sweets, and is a vegetarian. He is almost always seen drinking tea and relaxing with some sort of animal. He cares very deeply for animals of all sorts, and turns to a rather dark side of himself when the animals are in danger or are improperly taken care of.
He is incredibly wise, and shows that side of him only when he knows it is necessary, which is mostly to teach humans a lesson. He claims to hate humans, for they are inconsiderate and selfish creatures. This is why he would prefer to live amongst animals. He claims to especially hate young human children, despite having a soft spot for one in the series.
Canon history: He denies the name is "Count D,” claiming that this title belongs only to his grandfather, the shop's true owner. He runs a pet shop in Chinatown while the shop's alleged true owner is travelling abroad. His motto suggests he doesn't actually sell pets but rather "love, dreams, and hope" with a three-term contract. He shares a striking resemblance to his father, and to his grandfather, the real Count D. This is because they are duplicates of one another. They are almost identical except for the color of their eyes. It is revealed later in the series that he is not human, though what he and his family are exactly is left open to interpretation. According to D's father, they are the last of an ancient Chinese civilization that was very close to animals. Because of their wisdom, the people were kept at the imperial palace as wise men, priests, giving them all superior treatment. When the prince asked one of the priestesses for her hand in marriage and she refused him, however, he grew angry and ordered a massive genocide of the people. Only one man from the civilization survived, vowing to take revenge on the humans for what they did to his family.
~AU Info~
AU history: The Count grew up as an obedient, loving child. His mother unfortunately passed away when he was just a little toddler, and so he doesn’t remember too much of her. His father raised him to be a polite and intelligent young man. Count D discovered his magical ability one day while he was playing in his grandfather’s pet shop, and found out that the animals were talking to him… And he understood them. Since then, he has had a massive love for animals, and has been using his magic mainly to help them find good homes. To hone his skills, he went to Hogwarts, studied hard, and became a great wizard. After graduating, his grandfather passed away, and left the pet shop to Count D. Graciously, he ran the shop for most of his adult life, making it his home, practically. However, seeing so many animals leave his shop and then return soon after because of uncaring owners, he felt the need to spread the news to everyone that animals were not things that one can simply get rid of when they tire of it. And so, he decided to teach at Hogwarts, the school he loved, and where his animals could go with him. His boggart would be seeing his precious animals die.
House: When in school himself, Count D was a Ravenclaw, for he was highly intellectual in almost all subjects, but especially when it came to both muggle-known animals and magical animals.
Magical Strengths and Weaknesses: His major strength is, of course, his knowledge of animals. Another strength he has is transfiguration, for when he worked in the muggle world, he would often use transfiguration spells to turn animals into humans. His weakness would be flying, for he is terrified of heights.
Wand: A spruce wand. In length, it is just shy of eight inches long. This wand's core is unicorn tail hair.
Other: Count D is gay, but for some reason, some people do not see that in him. Women flirt with him very often, though, he shows them no interest.

Count D settled into his office chair, a warm cup of tea in his hands. Amongst the various animals that roamed around in his office, his sweet little bunny, Kiri, nuzzled into his abdomen from his lap. With a smile, and a light chuckle, he began to stroke the top of the rabbit’s head lovingly. “Yes, Kiri, it is a nice day today, isn’t it?” He swiveled around in his chair, slowly, so as to not startle the creature in his lap, and gazed out of the window. Fluffy white clouds rolled through a crystal blue sky, over the foreboding Forbidden Forest. The Count smiled a little wider, and closed his eyes. “I feel like some cupcakes are in order, to celebrate such a lovely day.”
