Alfred had already stuffed a whole meatpie in his mouth by the time the other boy asked his question. He gave him a sheepish look before answering.
"Alfred F. Jones," he said confidently, flashing a thumbs up and a heroic grin. "And you?". Alfred could already tell this other boy was full of awesome. Maybe he'd make a good sidekick!

Shinra's shoulders relaxed when the last girl was sorted, and he clapped along with the rest when the feast started. He examined the food in front of him; having lived in England for most of his life he was used to British food, despite the fact that his family ate Japanese food most of the time when he was younger. And he couldn't deny that sometimes the wizarding world created food that simply should not be. But there was soup, and there was steak, and those were pretty ordinary, so he filled his plate before frowning at his empty wineglass. As a teacher, it wasn't a problem if he used magic casually, so he slid his pale wand from his sleeve and hovered it above the glass. One light tap and the glittering crystal melted and bubbled into a plain white mug; a second tap and it filled itself with coffee. He'd probably be up all night anyway.

At the Ravenclaw table, Fai cheered and clapped for the newcomers, looking his usual sunny self. As much as he enjoyed and appreciated his adoptive fathers company, it was always so quiet back home. Sometimes he needed the distraction that only school and it's weird and wonderful classes (and weirder occupants) could bring. Of course there were plenty of times he caught himself longing for peace and quiet again, but those times were getting fewer. He glanced across to the Hufflepuff table with the last sorting, waving as he spotted the familiar face of another 5th year, Watanuki.
As the feast began, blue eyes turned their attention onto the always delectable food that appeared before them...at least for a few minutes, Fai was distracted from chatting by his hunger, helping himself to a bit of everything and starting to eat.

After swallowing down a rather large mouthful of...something, Masaomi grinned and ruffled the kids hair. "The name's Kida Masaomi~ Breaker of a Thousand Hearts, and loved by all with two X chromosomes~" He proclaimed making a few extravagant gestures.
"-And don't worry, I know my presence can be intimidating, but don't let that get you down! Your oh so generous sempai will help even you find some lovely chicas-" And with that, Masaomi proceeded to ramble on about the fine workings of flirting, (-occasionally throwing in a japanese phrase or two) not really paying attention to if his 'Kouhai' was keeping up with him at all.

Watanuki saw that Felicianna Vargas, the fourth year Hufflepuff, joined him on greeting the new student. He's glad that she did that. The poor Charlotte needs a lot of company.
Not long after that another Hufflepuf, also the last student to get sorted, ran to a spot beside Charlotte. She just sat there gaping.
"Hello. Yellow, right? Are you okay?" he said, his eyebrows furrowed with worries.
As he waited for their answers, his eyes caught Fai's figure waving to him. Watanuki waved back and gave him a smile.

Belle had watched the whole ordeal with interest. Due to her transferring into the school her own sorting had been private and uneventful. She clapped with the ending of the sorting and her thoughts wandered to her latest book that was carefully tucked into her shoulder bag; she never went anywhere without a book.
As the food appeared she realized how hungry she was and immediately started serving herself her favorites of the feast, mainly things that reminded her of home. As the hall filled with chatter she listened to her peers silently, chewing carefully and never taking a huge bite like others she has seen do. While she chewed her eyes scanned the room thinking, This will be a fun year.

Cabal observed the sorting with minimal interest. He had to admit he'd warmed somewhat to the celebrations at Hogwarts; prior to his work as a teacher there, he could only be persuaded to attend social functions at gunpoint. He generally found the staff and students more tolerable then than at any other time of year. The atmosphere --- and the wine, it was no secret he was a lightweight --- were making even small-talk wasn't quite like pulling teeth.

((ooc: Belle, in her App it says she transferred at begining of her second year so im going to assume Fai doesn't know her ^_^))
Once the edge had been taken off of his hunger, Fai started to pay more attention to what was going on around him. He heard snippets of conversations ranging from the mundane (My father say's I am sure to make prefect next year') to the downright bizzare ('....well...i was trying to help...but i got my head stuck in that giant venus fly trap mum bought last year!') Fai quirked an amused eyebrow, taking a sip of juice from his goblet.
As he glanced up he noticed an unfamiliar face - and one he hadn't seen in the actual sorting itself (unless perhaps he hadn't been paying attention). He looked curiously at the girl on the opposite side of the table, giving her a smile "Hello! I haven't seen you here before, are you a first year?" he asked, just in case he has managed to zone out at the sorting.

Another year, another influx of first years. There were the usual number of shy lambs, the skittish, the excited, the scared and the overconfident. Yuuko had seen them come and go, seen them transfer in and transfer out but the start of term feast never seemed to amuse her. After all, people were a curious sight and the younger they were, the more impressionable.
There was a barely heard twang as she toyed with her fork, staring out at the crowd before her. The vantage from the high table was certainly the best the Great Hall had to offer but it also meant that she had to be on her best behavior. However, when it came to Yuuko Ichihara, her best behavior was when she wasn't slobbering drunk. Then again, the night was young and the feast hadn't started. There would be plenty of time for drinks after the kids had been packed off to bed. As her eyes scanned the scene, a grin broke out on her lips and a spark of excitement came to her eyes. There was a single near frantic wave directed at Watanuki the moment she spotted him. Ah, he'd returned, as she expected.

As Watanuki tried to get his attention back to the new students, his eyes caught the figure of another person: the Divination Professor, Yuuko Ichihara.
Uh-oh, he thought.
At least she looked sober. For now.
He quickly averted his eyes. He wanted to have a peaceful feast. Let her bother him later in Divination Class.
He pushed some dishes in front of the new students. "Come on, let's eat. There's plenty of delicious food," he said with another smile.
He took a spoon of broccoli soup and stole a glance to the Divination Professor, hoping that she won't drink too much. Watanuki was worried that her kidneys would fail sooner or later.

Taking another sip of the warm brown liquid, Shinra swept his eyes over the room, noting the various ghosts that had slipped from the walls to examine the new students. Both of his elbows rested (rather rudely) on the table as he glanced both ways down the staff table. He noticed the DADA teacher immediately. They'd passed each other in the halls once or twice, but never really interacted, and now he had to admit that he found the man rather interesting. And interesting people were his favorite, so he set down his coffee mug and smiled wide, commenting casually to the man, "The sorting seemed to go by like a shot this year, don't you think?"

Belle blinks and returns from her thoughts and looks at the boy who had spoken to her.
His question registered and she smiled at the thought, he thinks I'm a first year, and I suppose in a way I am... She replied, "I am not technically a first year in magical studies, but this is my first time at Hogwarts. I transferred here after an interesting year at my first school; my name is Belle, and what is yours?"

The heavy french accent caught Fai a little off guard at first, but he didn't let it show. He smiled as he put two and two together...she must have come from Beauxbatons Academy. It wasn't that transfer students were unheard of and Fai always found it interesting to meet people from different backgrounds. "My name's Fai....Fai Flowright." he replied cheerilly.
"What made you chose to transfer to Hogwarts then? It must seem quite uncouth compared to the Academy!" Fai was curious, having read about various magical schools (Ashura insisted that he should be allowed to chose any school to study in), and it seemed that Beauxbatons was practically a palace compared to Hogwarts.

"Finally," Arthur muttered to himself. The sorting had taken far too long for his liking, but he was glad it was done with. All he had to do now was finish his meal and he could return to his room. He was looking forward to settling down with a good book or his unfinished embroidery. The Ravenclaw common room would surely be crowded and noisy due to the new first years... Perhaps he should find another spot to sit and read.
Arthur scowled when he spotted a familiar face nearby- one he was used to seeing around the common room. Of course that obnoxious Fai Flowright would be there. Luckily, he was speaking with another, unfamiliar student, and hadn't noticed Arthur. He ducked his head and began to eat, hoping to finish and leave as quickly as possible.

Cabal took a moment to notice Shinra --- the Head of the Hospital Wing, he believed, over the din in the Great Hall. He disliked doctors on principal, but he approved of the appraising, scientific eye the other man had. "Yes," he replied, leaning nearer so he would be understood. "Hardly seems worth all the whining and anxiety beforehand."
