~Character Info~
Name: Fai Flowright (Birth name is Yuui Valeria)
Series: Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicles
Gender:Male
Age and year: 15 (5th year) but will be 16 on 13th October
Appearance: Lean and lanky, Fai has an almost androgenous look about him, with an innocent and almost feminine countenance, framed with untameable pale gold hair. His bright blue eyes are almost always alert, even if the rest of him does not appear to be, and he is very rarely seen without a smile. Because of his build and certain personal issues he tends to slouch a lot, however, despite this he moves with unexpected grace.
Personality: Outwardly, Fai has a positively sunny disposition; he loves to be cheerful, he loves to smile and more than that, he loves to make others smile. He does that any way he can think of, from calling people silly names to giving them a very peppy pep-talk. Whilst Fai takes pleasure in the company of others, and is more than happy to listen to their problems, he is very guarded about what he reveals of himself to those around him. If it is something he does not want known, he either outright lies or he will dance around the subject and very quickly the person he's talking to will be guided onto another, safer, topic. He fears letting people too close.
Because of how he acts, a lot of people underestimate him, but underneath all the smiles there is intelligence. Fai loves to learn, and to use new skills and spells...he can be quite creative, and can be found experimenting with creating new spells (just listen for the explosions) but his creativeness also extends into a more artistic hobby too (he always carries around a sketchbook, and almost every piece of homework will have doodles on, much to the teachers chagrin). Fai is also quite adept at spinning tales, usually to throw people off and stop them prying. He isn’t particularly manipulative by nature, but if the situation calls for it, he can manage it – he is quite resourceful when he needs to be. The real Fai is a lonely person, and though he is nice, he’s not as nice as he would like people to believe.
There are times when Fai's mask falters, but very rarely around other people. One of his most vulnerable times is in fact whilst he is asleep, so he sleeps on his stomach with his face buried in a pillow/coat/his own arms. He has no desire for other people to see his face when his nightmares overtake him. Slowly though, his time at Hogwarts has helped him come out of his shell, his smiles are becoming more genuine and though he does not allow the facade to drop, he finds himself wondering if perhaps he’s starting to believe his own lies and is becoming the person he pretends to be.
Canon history: Fai of Tsubasa is a pretty messed up character, and to write his canon history in full would make your mind implode and is a vast amount of spoilers.
The spoiler free version is: Fai puts his king in a coma, and runs away from his world and ends up travelling with a group of strangers in order to avoid returning home. On the journey stuff happens that makes Fai very angsty. Then even more stuff happens that basically reveals everything he has tried to hide/lie about...and eventually things are resolved, and he continues the journey.
The spoilery mind-mess version is: He is a twin. Twins are considered evil, so his mum committed suicide and his dad locked him and his brother in a tower. His dad went mad and started killing people. The twins were visited by Fei Wang Reed, who offered both boys a choice....only one could leave the tower, they had to chose who would live and be free, and who would die. One twin died, and the surviving twin blamed himself, so much so that he decided to take his brothers name, to try to erase himself and let his brother live on through him. He was taken to a man in another dimension named Ashura, who gave him a last name, taught him magic and had a magical item to preserve his brothers body.
All is good for a while, but then Ashura goes mad and starts killing people, so Fai puts him in a magical coma and runs away. He ends up on a journey to collect feathers with a group of people, but is secretly working for Fei Wang Reed because he thinks the man can help him resurrect his brother. Along the way there are curses and clones, he gets his eye ripped out and to survive is forced by Kurogane to become a vampire, drinking blood from only him (which Fai is most unhappy about). The man he was running from awakens, a fight ensues, Ashura and Fai’s brother die and his Kuro-prey cuts off his own arm to save Fai from yet another curse. At this point, Fai stops being a git and forgives Kurogane, then promises to help the group fight against Fei Wang Reed.
(Basically, i think any character this messed up by the age of 11 would not really be fit to attend hogwarts, so i'll ease up on the angst somewhat for his AU history!)

AU history: A pair of blonde haired, blue eyed Twins were born to a Muggle couple on the 13th October....Sadly, Chii died in childbirth, leaving a very distraught father to raise two sons, Fai and Yuui. He did the best he could with the rest of the family helping out, but it was obvious that the situation was taking it’s toll on him.
The twins were, by muggle standards, a little odd. The family noticed that little things were happening – just small things like the twins always seemed to get hold of the sweets, when the jar was well out of their reach or that toys seemed to have a life of their own when the twins were playing with them, (their aunt could swear the puppets were dancing by themselves). Of course, it was dismissed at first, but as the children grew and started school, more and more odd occurrences happened. Other children started to whisper about the boys being devil children, cursed, users of evil magics, and so started to avoid them. Their father was concerned, but was starting to grow suspicious...eventually he caught the pair using magic to try to escape a group of children who were throwing rotten fruit at them on their way back from school, and it seemed that the man snapped. He started shouting at them, cursing them as evil witches and accusing them of of murdering their own mother with their cursed births....a crowd had soon gathered and fruit was the nicest thing thrown. When the boys were pelted with stones they started to run and the crowd gave chase – a brick was thrown, and Fai seeing it threw himself at Yuui to stop his brother getting hit, but instead it smacked Fai hard in the back of the head with a sickening crunch – Yuui turned to see his brother fall and rushed to his side with a cry. In his anguish and anger he managed to raise a shield, but it was too late, his brother was already fading.
After that point, Yuui doesn’t remember a great deal from that day...there was shouting, the sound of stones and bricks thunking off his shield, himself sobbing as he clung to his brothers lifeless body. And a man. A man who managed to disperse the mob somehow to get to him. A man who took a good hour to convince Yuui to lower the shield, and then took them away in a flash of light.
Fai was burried, and Yuui came to learn that the man was a wizard by the name of Ashura. He offered the boy a home, and to teach him to control his magic so that something like this would not happen again. Yuui accepted, since he had no where else to go, and for the first year or so was very withdrawn, barely speaking, barely eating and barely seeming alive. He blamed himself for what had happened and so took Fai’s name, trying to erase the Yuui who had caused his brothers death. It took a lot of patience on Ashuras part, but eventually he got the boy to interact, and after a long time, smile. He made the adoption official, and from the age of 9, the young wizard became Fai Flowright.
Seeing that it made his adoptive father happy when he smiled, Fai did it more often...after having so many people resent him for being different, it was a very nice change to have someone who accepted him, someone who was invested in him, and Fai started to want to live up to the mans expectations and to at least seem less unhappy so that Ashura didn’t worry. His chance to prove himself came with his Hogwarts letter; Ashura was delighted, and said that this was the perfect opportunity for Fai to learn and make friends like himself. Fai was a little unsure, since magic was still a sore reminder of all that had happened.
Fai never forgot his brother, however with each year at Hogwarts has become a little less withdrawn and excelled in his studies not only to please his father, but because he has slowly found himself accepting and enjoying the power that he has. He wants to be able to control his magic fully, so that he can protect people he holds dear, and so that no one would have to sacrifice themselves for him again.
His boggart would be his brother, beaten and bleeding, accusing Fai of killing him, of being selfish, betraying him and forgetting him...
House: Ravenclaw. Whilst it’s tempting to have Fai in Slytherin for his deception and lies, in the manga it’s not actually the real personality of Fai/Yuui, it’s something done out of necessity, because he blames himself for his brothers death and would do anything to bring him back. Gryffindor would not suit, because he is very much a coward, constantly running away from his problems until he is forced to confront them. I also cannot see him as a Hufflepuff....he is kind, and has some loyalty (however misplaced) but he is not hardworking, nor honest. For me, Fai would fit better into Ravenclaw – he does have a sharp mind (hidden behind his foolish facade), he loves to learn and to use new skills. Fai is also a pretty creative and resourceful character, in the manga he is adept at spinning tales to cover their backs, or using the people and environment around him to the groups advantage.
Magical Strengths and Weaknesses: Fai has a talent for charms and defensive spells and enjoys potions. He doesn’t get on well in History Of Magic, but that could be because he spends a lot of time trying not to think about the past (or because it’s the most boring subject ever taught) and spends a lot of Astronomy class daydreaming or doodling. He elected to take Care of Magical Creatures and Ancient Runes
Wand: A thin yew wand. In length, it is just shy of eight and one-half inches long. The core consists of phoenix tail feather.

It was after curfew when Fai snuck back into the tower. There were a couple of people still milling about in the common room, he gave them a quick smile, but avoided their gazes and headed straight to his dorm. He stepped quietly up the stairs, and opened the door to his dormitory as silently as he could, shutting it carefully after himself. A quick glance around, and hearing the soft snores of his dorm mates confirmed that they were already sound asleep. Lucky them.
Fai headed for his bed, drawing the curtains and flooping down onto the mattress with a long sigh. After a while he seemed to remember what he’d snuck out for; he pulled out a letter from his pocket and opened it quietly., shifting onto his stomach to stare down at the parchment. The familiar scrawl of his adopted father made him smile. He was so predictable – every year, he sent Fai a letter and a card the night before his birthday....by now, he was used to waiting in the owlery for the familiar tawny owl to arrive, give him an affectionate nip and demand a treat as the blonde took his letter. He read slowly, he could almost hear Ashuras voice and not for the first time, felt a little home sick. By the time he had finished the letter and opened the card, he felt a little better; Ashura knew what to say to make him feel a little bit happy about his birthday. He yawned and was too tired to pen a coherent reply right now. He kept hold of the letter in one hand and burried his face against his pillow, as though Ashuras letter would be enough to ward off the nightmares he was sure would find him.
