"Hey, I'm Mac," he replied when Charlotte gave him her name. It was clear the boy hadn't really been paying attention to him, so he clarified by telling him, "I was saying hi to both of you, just not very effectively, I guess." He scratched the back of his head, not sure where to go from there. Giving the final creation one last detail, he looked carefully at it. It seemed he had decided to draw himself, Bloo, Madame Foster, and Mr. Herriman all standing in front of Madame Foster's House, giving the two humans a slightly cartoonish look. He had even added in some of his newly created "friends" in the background. But one of them caught his eye as one he had never drawn before. It was pretty weird looking, with its goofy grin and simplistic features. He shrugged, not sure what to call it yet, and then remembered that the girl had been looking at his drawing very intently until he had said something. Holding it tight he asked, "Do you like it?" He figured maybe he could start a conversation, either with one or the other or both, with something he knew well.

“Oh, I thought you were asking a question.” Mac, huh? Decent name. he thought to himself. He wasn’t much into introductions, so he quickly stated “Name’s Jim,” and looked back to his Rubix cube. Jim was paying a bit more attention to the young Ravenclaw this time when he actually asked a question, and was able to respond appropriately. “It’s cool…” Jim stated as he glanced over Mac’s finished sketch “If you’re into that sort of thing.” Honestly, the work reminded him a bit of a child’s fantasy, but who was he to judge others?

Charlotte only nodded, not trusting herself with words.
"It's really..." Pretty? Cute? Beautiful? "Good." Apparently she could trust herself with words. To an extent.
In a flash, the pink haired girl whipped out a piece of paper and a newly sharpened pencil, placing them both neatly on her desk with a slam. She sat for a minute, trying to collect her thoughts before shaking her head to disperse them.
"Teach me." There was time before the class started, wasn't there? Would he even be able to teach her? Drawing wasn't something that you were born with, was it? Was it like magic? Certainly looked like magic...

Jim's response was pretty much all he expected, but his add-on statement made Mac frown a little. "Right..." he said, placing the drawing back on to the table. It was true, not everyone was as into art as him.
His smile returned when Charlotte replied that it was good. Her excitement was evident in her voice and it made Mac feel a bit proud of himself, despite what the other boy had said. He looked back to the drawing and his eyes snapped immediately to the weird creature he had drawn in the corner. Its smile was honestly starting to freak him out. Why had he drawn it?
"Teach me." The girl's next sentence surprised him out of his inner thoughts. She was staring at him expectantly, still clearly excited.
"W-What?!" he practically squeaked. It was a very unexpected not-really-a-question question. No one had ever asked him to before. "You want me to teach you how to draw?" He thought about it for a minute, practically staring holes into the girl's paper. "I'm not sure I can, it sort of comes naturally to most people, but I can try. Um, I know the first thing I do is think of an image for what you want to draw. It doesn't have to be complete, and sometimes the picture comes out much different than the original in your mind, but as long as you have an idea- it's a start." He hoped she understood that.

Now that Jim thought about it, drawing seemed rather similar to engineering, something that he was rather fond of. He wasn’t going to give out compliments freely, but he was starting to become interested. “Go ahead and teach her, I want to watch.” He wasn’t quite sure why he wanted to watch, he was just intrigued now. Perhaps he could also get some engineering ideas spinning.

The girl nodded, staring at her paper, trying to get an image in her mind.
What do I want to draw...?
And suddenly! Inspiration dawned upon her and she put pencil to paper, drawing lines this way and that, leaning back every so often to see how it was turning out... A circle here, a cross here, how about a spiral? Now lean back and see how wonderful it turned out!
"... It looks nothing like I thought..."
Staring back at her was a squiggly circle, no eyes, no mouth, just legs and what appeared to be ears. Perching on top of the things head was what looked like an old nurses cap.
"It was supposed to be a bunny..." Charlotte quietly said to herself. How could things turn out so different and... wrong from what she first imagined?

"That's fine," he said, not sure why Jim would want to watch him teach Charlotte how to draw. The girl thought for a while but then seemed to get an idea and started to draw. Mac watched her draw some shapes and lines and squiggles until she finally leaned back. He looked at it with a raised eyebrow. It looked like a...well...he wasn't sure.
"It was supposed to be a bunny..." Charlotte's disappointed voice answered his question.
He gave a small chuckle and smiled at her. "Well, it's certainly a start. You've got the ears and legs down. Instead of a squiggly circle, try more of an oval shape for the body, and a regular circle for the head. It'll be pretty simplistic, but as a begginer, it's a good start." Mac looked at it again. "And you draw very convincing nurse's hats, even if it's not what you wanted."

Jim was slightly amused by the two; they could actually be a really adorable couple, but that was really none of his business. He decided to take in his surroundings while Charlotte was being taught in the ways of art. There were two other students, one who he recognized to be the light-haired Gryffindor that he had seen in the commons, the other was a rather shy blonde-haired… girl? he couldn’t really tell because of her large hat. Feeling rather relaxed, he locked his hands behind his head and propped his feet up on his desk. Perhaps he could get a nice nap in before class started.

Charlotte nodded, thinking to herself about what Mac had said...
An oval? Right.
She put her pencil to the paper again, slowly making an oval-ish shape, but jumped when the Gryffindor propped his feet up on the table.
Were they really this boring?? We can be way more interesting, right? Right! Just talk to him! No... Concentrate on drawing. Drawing.... Drawing.. Think of bunnies... Cute little fluffy bunnies like ovals... Ovals...
Charlotte stared at the new doodle on her paper. Not even close. She frowned at the paper, as if that would make the lines rearrange into something more artful and, well, 'cute'.
Bunnies... Bunnies... Ovals... Cute... Ov--
"Hey, what's that?" Charlotte pointed to the rubrix cube near Jim. It wasn't like anything she had seen before, but suddenly, it seemed waaaaaaay more important then... Then... What had she been doing? Not important. Rubrix cube, important.

Jim was a bit startled by the sudden outburst from Charlotte and wobbled in his chair a bit. Following her finger, he noticed she was pointing to his Rubix cube. “What, this thing?” he said picking up his puzzle, “It’s a Rubix cube, it’s like a 3-D puzzle.” He started to randomly twist the cube and then proceed to solve it, holding it up so that she could see. After solving it, he placed it back down on his desk and relocked his hands behind his head.

Charlotte watched in wonder as Jim manipulated the small cube back and forth until all the sides matched. Hey, the puzzle didn't look that hard.
"Can I see it?" Charlotte offered her hand, just like a little kid wanting to play with a new toy. It was just so... Interesting. All the pieces fit together with just a twist and a click an ta-da! The puzzle would be solved! It shouldn't take that long, Jim seemed to be able to recreate the matching sides from total disorder within a few second.

Yellow was torn between sticking with the other hufflepuff and not wanting to be in the front row. So instead she took the seat behind the gryffindor boy, so she would most likely be able to escape notice.

“Sure.” He said as he picked up the Rubix cube again. “Catch.” He said as he tossed it over Mac’s head to Charlotte, assuming that she could catch the little cube.

Snatching the small, colorful cube out of the air, Charlotte set to work right away. Of course, she had to mix the whole thing up before she could solve it. As tempting as it was to cheat and memorize her patterns, she decided to close her eyes, only opening them when the cube was as mixed to her desire.
Cube, prepare to be solved!
With mild interest, Charlotte twisted the cube this way and that, growing more and more frustrated as the cube refused to be solved.
Oh, you're just mocking me now, aren't you? I'll show you... I'm not going to give up until you. Are. Solved.
And, ta-da! The cube was solve-- Wait a minute. What is that. The top left corner of the orange side was blue. Vice versa on the blue side. Charlotte stared at the cube, as if it could give her an answer, but, just like the paper, the cube refused to answer her.
"How did you get there?" She tapped the incorrectly colored square with her bright pink fingernail

"I guess I should have warned you first,” Jim answered in place of the cube. “You should start with a 3 or 4 random twists and then increase the number when you feel that you are advanced enough. You simply mixed up a few little twists.” He held his hands in a catching position to hint that he wanted the cube back; he was going to show Charlotte how to fix her mistake.
