After hearing the obvious upperclassman’s comment about first years being lower than furniture, Jim tensed up and clenched his fists. “Hey, watch it.” He warned. Jim wasn’t the only one who felt annoyed by the insult, he was sure. Jim’s rash nature was getting the better of him and he wasn’t quite thinking things through; but no one was going to insult someone and get away with it. Especially if it involved him as well.

Alfred stuck his tongue out at Ms. Rainbow-Haired Girl. "Well where I'm from we use the strict finders keepers policy. Bay Stater Law, dudes. It was unnoccupied, I took it. And the hero is NEVER lower than furniture." Alfred puffed out his cheeks indignantly, not really paying heed to the pussy cat on his head. "Jim and I resent those remarks and I'll have you know I ain't gonna have any part of your hazing." Yup, rule number one to being a hero: don't be a victim. ESPECIALLY to your housemates...that's just embarrassing.

Masaomi, having nothing really to add, merely stood on the sidelines and smirked at the antics of his housemates. It was nice, having other people around to connect with, make a family with. He knew he'd be able to get used to this group of people he'd be spending the next three years with in no time.
-And whilst Masaomi was lost in sentimentality, it was at that moment that Linda decided that her current spot atop alfred's head was not all that comfortable, and once again decided to change homes and leap across to someone else's head. A head that just happened to be a bit more....colorful~

Amitola placed her left hand on her hip, and lifted a finger to the indignant first years. Her words got caught in her throat, however, when the creature jumped onto her head. She screeched, taking off into a run. Her feet carried her in whirls of circles. "Oh my god, Oh my god, Oh my god, Oh my god, Oh my god!!"

Jim lost his anger after hearing Amitola’s screech; he jumped back a little and then watched her run around in circles for a while. When she ran by him, he quickly yet gently snagged the cat from her head and held it in his arms, brushing it’s fur with one of his hands. “There, now will you stop running around as if a Dragon was chasing you?” He was probably more rude than he should have been, and he probably would have been more silent afterwards, but he was still tense from earlier.

After reaching a hand to her head in order to make sure the creature was gone, Amitola skid to a stop. She took a deep breath and steadied herself. Pretending as though that little incident had never happened, she tried to bring the conversation back around to the first years. "Yeah, yeah. But my chair is my chair."

Jim rolled his eyes at the girl and looked away from her, letting a slight puff of hair out of his mouth. She sure is stubborn… and at the very least, she could have apologized. He fumed to himself. He was half tempted to put the cat back on her head, but the cat seemed a bit traumatized from the recent events, so he figured it would be best to hold on to it and let it calm down. “Whatever, I don’t particularly care who has what seat, but you don’t need to get worked up over a chair."

"Who, me?" Dave said, mock-innocent. "Not like I was getting up in your grill or anything, dude. Just making sure everybody got the lowdown on what the situation was. Laying down the facts so Chair-man here got what the score was. Namely, upperclassmen ten, first-years zero." A little smirk formed on his face. This kid seemed like the type to get pretty easily worked up.

Masaomi blinked a few times before coming up to Rainbow Dash, "My sweet lovely, you should not fear my cat~ Because I shall always be around to protect you from harm even if it means throwing myself in front of death~" He declared flamboyantly. In all honesty he really couldn't believe someone could be so terrified of something so small, but whatever, he had an opportunity to be her knight in shining armor, and there was no way he'd pass it down.
He cast a sideways glance at Jim and smiled at him, thanking him for getting Linda, who was now getting rather comfortable in Jim's arms.

Jim held back his annoyance from the upperclassman with the glasses; He didn’t want to disturb the now peaceful cat. He slowly sat down on the floor and placed the cat in his lap after returning a slight grin towards Masaomi. Listening to the conversation going on around him would be the best thing to do right now, after all, these were going to be the people he’d live with for quite a while, and he might as well get used to them rather than start a fight with them… he’d save the fights for the Slytherins.

Amitola nodded slowly, lifting her eyebrows. She gently pushed him away, hoping not to hurt his feelings - but thinking that her personal space was a little too invaded by this guy. "Uh...right. I'm pretty sure I don't need saving. It's your cat, anyway. What's it doing here?"

"I needed to feed her, of course~" Masaomi replied evenly, undeterred by her motion of pushing him aside.

Amitola scrunched her face into a wrinkled ball. "Oh." Ignoring the cat, she strolled lazily over to her chair and sat down on one of the edges. After clearing her throat, she poked the little weasel. "Finders keepers is totally a good policy. But I found it first. Three years ago."

Violet had been sitting in an armchair by the fire since before the commotion started, but it seemed no one had yet to notice her. She had discarded her headphones when people began talking, in order to listen in and maybe contribute, but so far she couldn't become invested in the conversation. Instead, she picked up a magazine she had brought down earlier and began reading it, chuckling at the weird logic of all who currently inhabited the common room.

“Yeah, whatever Amitola.” He brushed her aside trying not to disturb the peaceful cat on his lap. That’s when he noticed another girl on a chair far away from everyone nearby. He waved to her with one hand, just to acknowledge her existence, which so far had been unknown to the rest of the Gryffindors.
