Fai nearly bumped into a first year on his way back down from the 5th year dorms "oops! Sorry!" he smiled sheepishly by way of apology. He shifted aside to let the kid pass, then wandered into the common room himself, flooping down into a beanbag with a book in hand. There was excited chatter all around from the little firsties as well as some of the older students....but for now he was happy to just relax with a book, and enjoy having new and old friends nearby - it was something he sorely missed when he was back home with Ashura.
After a bit of wiggling to get comfy, Fai flicked to the marked page in his book and started to read.

He waited for Mac to return with the cookies, smiling and preparing to introduce himself to the girl.
"Excuse me for asking, but you aren't a first year, are you?" It was bothering him, so he had to clear this up. "And yet you're new."

Mac paused on the step up to the dorms, moving to the side so he could pass by another older student that was coming down. "It's okay," he replied, when the much taller boy apologized. Finishing the climb to his room, he quickly opened his trunk and took out the cookies. Ten cookies left, he counted to himself. Making sure the bag was still closed, he made his way downstairs to the common room again.

Belle smiled at the pink haired boy as she was already used to this question, "I transferred after my first year at Beauxbatons's. So technically I am new here."

"It's marvelous, isn't it?" Gumball turned the paper around so he could admire the unicorn drawing. "It was Mac, the first year who just offered you a cookie." He glanced around to see if he was back yet.

Mac entered the common room to find the girl had joined Gumball over by the fireside. The boy who had bumped into him on the staircase was sitting on a beanbag. He walked back to his chair, reclaiming it for himself, and opened the bag of cookies. He held it out for the others. "Here you go, Gumball and um...I'm sorry, I don't know your name yet," he addressed the girl with the last part of the sentence.

Belle offers the new boy a bright smile, "Oh! my name is Belle~ I am a second year who transferred here from Beauxbatons. And your name?~" she refuses to reach for a cookie till they are better acquainted and such.

Mac sat back in the chair, nodding in reply to Gumball's thanks. Belle didn't seem to want any cookies, at least not yet. "My name's Mac. I'm a first year." He picked out one of the cookies and took a bite; just as delicious as he remembered. His mom made some of the best sugar-free cookies. Maybe he could convince her to bake other kinds for Gumball to try; that is, if he even liked them. It had been too clear that he wasn't keen on this whole 'sugar-free' concept.

Belle watches him munch and the flash of happiness that appeared on his face, "Ah, how are you liking the school so far? I rather enjoy it, but that is a matter of opinion, no?~"

He took a bite. Hm...Interesting. The taste was different, but surprisingly good. Suddenly he realized that his silence might have been taken the wrong way.
"They're very good!" He assured Mac.

"I really like it here too," he replied. It was certainly much better than being at home either alone or with his terror of an older brother. He frowned slightly but quickly took another bite of cookie to push it away. He really couldn't stay sad when eating these. Mac was surprised when Gumball said he liked them. "Really? That's great! You can barely even tell that they're sugar-free, but I wasn't sure if you'd like it."
