Name: Shinra Kishitani
Series: Durarara!!
Gender: Male
Age and year/Age and job: 24 years old; School nurse.
Appearance: Shinra is 5'8'' and 132 lbs. He has short brown hair and brown eyes, and he wears thick-rimmed black glasses, without which his eyesight is all kinds of terrible.
Personality: Simultaneously competent and kind of an idiot, Shinra is best described as ridiculous. He's fascinated by anything and everything unusual, especially things which are living, because then he can take them apart to see how they work. He's selfish and takes care of the people he loves most first, and the rest of the world comes after that. He doesn't know when to shut up, and will run his mouth about anything and everything, but when he really wants to he's a pretty good liar.
He has a tendency to make friends with the oddest people, probably also due to his fascination with the unusual. These friends have an unfortunate tendency to hurt him, but he doesn't seem to mind. In fact, he really doesn't seem to mind much at all; he just kind of floats through life in his own little world. As long as no one he cares about is harmed, he's happy, and everything's okay.
Canon history: In Durarara!! Shinra works as a underground doctor and shares an apartment with Celty. His greatest plot relevance in the anime is when he (spoiler) is revealed to have done plastic surgery on Mika Harima's face to make her resemble Celty's head.

AU history: Shinra was born to a very eccentric father and mother, both of whom were wizards. Although he has Japanese heritage, his family had lived in Ireland since he was born, but when his mother could put up with his father's crazy for no longer, his parents were divorced and he and his father moved to England. It was a given, to his parents, that he would go to Hogwarts, and he got his letter as expected when he was eleven. He focused on his studies and made few friends (and the few he made were odd, to say the least), and when he graduated was determined to stay at Hogwarts for reasons of his own. Despite showing interest in becoming a teacher, he became the head of the hospital wing and that's his job to this day. His boggart is an shadowy figure that's unidentifiable to most onlookers.
House: N/A, he was a Ravenclaw while in school.
Magical Strengths and Weaknesses: Very good at healing magic and potions, but pretty terrible at most other stuff. Seems to have an interest in darker sorts of spells, but more of an academic interest; he finds such things interesting but doesn't have the skill.
Wand: His wand is made of soft linden wood, easily broken but very light. The core is an augury feather.
Other: He nearly always wears a white version of the standard wizarding robes.

Summer was boring. In summer all of the students were gone, and even if they did get injured (which would be terrible of course. Of course.) they would go to their family doctors.
And because of this he had nothing to do.
He'd already been chased out of the forest by the centaurs (twice now, or was that three times?) for asking if they objected to vivisection; he was curious to see if they had the internal organs of a horse or a man or possibly both, and it's not like asking hurt anyone anyway. In the same vein, he wasn't quite welcome with the mermaids or with the ghosts. (he hadn't even done anything to the ghosts, really!)
Well, he couldn't possibly be the only teacher with no one to go over the summer, right? Surely there was someone else he couldbother talk to. At least to pass the time until school started up again.
Well, it was worth a try. He got to his feet and left the hospital wing, locking the door behind him.
