~Character Info~
Name: Kurogane Youou (only lets people close to him call him Youou)
Series: Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicles
Gender: Male
Age and year: 15, 5th year
Appearance: Tall, well toned and broad shouldered, Kurogane has the makings of a warrior thanks to the training his father put him through when he was younger. He has spiky black hair and piercing red eyes set in a tan skinned and masculine face. Kurogane tries to keep an impassive look about him, however he is not very good at hiding his displeasure and so ends up scowling quite often. The exception is when he's fighting (be it with magic, sword or fist), when he is seen with a feral grin curling his lips.
It is also because of his training that he moves with deadly grace in a fight and seems to be able to sense presences even if he cannot see them. This makes him keenly aware of his surroundings, and the people around him.
Personality: Kurogane seems quiet and gruff on the surface as he tries not to get to attached or show that he actually does care. Despite his apparent calmness and seriousness, he is easily wound up by certain types of people, to the point where he will shout and chase them around with sharp pointy objects, threatening them with death if they don't shut up.
Whilst Kurogane is a very honest person, he does not like to appear weak so he will downplay any qualities that he thinks are less admirable. Still, this does not change the fact that underneath the rough exterior, the teen is kind and fiercely loyal to those he deems worthy. He will protect them with his life.
Kurogane loathes dishonesty and weak willed people. He isn't too happy about 'saving' people either, but would rather teach them to save themselves. He is in fact very much a man of action, and no matter what the situation he would rather act upon his instincts instead of sitting around waiting for others to tell him what to do.
Canon History: Kurogane was born and raised in the village of Suwa. His mother was a Miko, and his father a warrior; both used their skills to protect their village. Life was great for chibi-kuro, until he was around 'insert age here' when Fei Wang Reed set his plan in motion; the man needed pawns, and in order to get one, he killed both of Kurogane’s parents.
Kurogane's mother was killed in front of her young son, and all that was left of his father was the hand that held a sword....seeing this, Kurogane went a little crazy, and didn't calm down until a young princess (also a dreamseer) came to his side.
The princess Tomoyo offered him a new life and home; he was trained to become something of a ninja, and ended up in her personal guard. He longed to gain strength to protect, but lost sight of his aim and ended up killing needlessly. Strength for the sake of strength.
Finally, after multiple warnings, Tomoyo sent Kurogane on a journey, away from Nihon so that he could re-learn the meaning of true strength, even though she knew it was what FWR wanted.
Kurogane is forced to travel with 2 kids and an annoying wizard....though over time he comes to care for his charges, and even teaches the boy how to fight. After a lot of angst, he saves the wizards life by becoming his food source, and by the end of the journey he realises what true strength is.
~AU Info~
AU history: Kurogane born and brought up in Japan where his Father ran a dojo and his Mother worked as a middle school teacher. However, alongside their usual jobs, his parents being a witch and wizard also worked to protect Japan from the creatures that muggles couldn’t see.
When Kurogane was 10, his mother was offered a really good job teaching Japanese at an English school and so they left the family home and the Dojo, and moved to England. This move was unsettling, however it presented Kurogane with a rather interesting opportunity, which his parents encouraged; he was invited to attend Hogwarts.
Whilst Kurogane had shown potential for magic a few times, he had never really been trained much to use it properly, and had been far more interested in leaning his Fathers trade. So much so that his father had taught him a variety of fighting techniques, from martial arts to swordplay. This meant that when he first started at Hogwarts, Kurogane found it hard and a little frustrating that he couldn’t always get the magic to work. However, Kurogane is not a quitter and kept working at it, studying and practising whenever he could to get better at it.
Whilst the teen still does struggle with some spells, he seems to master attack spells better than the defensive ones, he wonders if it has something to do with all the training his father gave him in combat. Still he continues to persevere.
Just before Kuro's fifth year at hogwarts started he had to deal with the loss of both of his parents; they were killed protecting some muggles from creatures. Kurogane withdrew from people, obviously shaken by the loss of his parents. He was taken in by some close friends of his family - A Miko that was also living in England, Tomoyo.
Starting a week later than all the other students at Hogwarts he has finally returned to the school. Still as quiet as ever, he tries not to talk about what happened at home... not with his fellow students anyway.
House: Hufflepuff seems to fit best; he is loyal and hardworking, and generally fair and practical...although he doesn't have a great deal of patience he is getting better at controlling his anger. Most of the time. The only other house that might also suit is Gryffindor, because he is brave and daring (although not chivalrous). Whilst he is not suited to Ravenclaw (he's not book-smart, nor particularly creative), nor does he currently suit Slytherin (Whilst he has ambition he doesn't really use cunning or deviousness to get things done, preferring hard work)
Magical Strengths and Weaknesses : Kurogane's strengths lie in offensive magic; he has far better capabilities for things like duelling than he does for sitting around turning matchsticks into needles. Class wise, Defence against the dark arts would be his strongest subject (if only for the duelling side of it). Whilst he finds it harder to master non-offensive magic, he certainly prefers it to things like History of Magic or Astronomy, where there is little to keep him occupied. Kurogane enjoys practical classes.
Wand: a rune-inscribed fir wand. In length, it is eight and one-quarter inches long. This wand's core is dragon claw.
Other: Kurogane’s boggart would be his family not knowing that he loved them before they died. A little while before his family were killed they had had a little argument and Kurogane had stormed to his room. Now his fear is that they didn't know that he loved them before they were killed.

Kurogane sat alone in the dojo of his new home, it was the small hours of the morning but it was still dark. He hadn’t been to sleep yet, couldn’t seem to get his mind to shut up and let him sleep. Then again, he didn’t really feel like sleeping to much had been going on the past few days.
His parents were dead, he had to face the fact that they were gone and that there was nothing he could do about it now. His eyes moved to the small shrine that Tomoyo had made for his family. His Fathers sword stood at the front, as soon as his eyes met the sword he felt his chest tighten a hand moving to grip his shirt as he struggled with the emotions that welled up.
Kurogane still remembered the day his parents were found dead, it three weeks after the holidays had started. Kuro had returned from school to find police and ambulance crews all over his street, he had soon realised that they were at his house. His neighbours had stared at him looking at him with pity in their eyes, Kurogane didn’t know why they were looking at him like that. He suddenly got a bad feeling and ran the rest of the way down the street seeing the police tape stopping anyone from going any further, the door to his home stood open and there were police talking to each other. He ducked under the tape and dashed for the door. Someone shouted behind him but he ignored it and kept going, following the bloody footprints to the kitchen, he saw his father first face down on the floor blood pooling underneath him, his mother a few feet away from him face up dead eyes staring blankly at the ceiling. There was a bloody piece of paper underneath his fathers hand, something that looked like the sign of a bat was on it. Kurogane had blanked out after that, he didn’t remember a police man scooping him up and removing him from the bloody scene.
Trying to push the memories away he looked at his clenched fist, feeling the wet tears rolling down his cheeks. He stood moving to place a hand on his father’s sword.
“I Promise…. I will find who did this to you and I will make sure to get revenge,” said Kurogane
