((I've been told to have Izaya's presence enter this thread XDD He'll probably pop into the room later XD))
Izaya (or Professor Orihara to students) was wandering.
Well, most people would call it wandering but the raven-haired professor did have a reason for his wandering. Moving up and down the hallways in such patterns did tend to get him some of the juiciest pieces of information he could pick up about the other residents of Hogwarts. Because it was better to wander, accidentally move through a room where two students were sharing the secret embrace of lovers, go by an argument in a hallway or on the lawns... little things that he could sort away in the annals of his head and use to his advantage at a later date.
Besides, it sure beat lazing around in his office all day or needing to go bug Shinra to amuse himself. And strolling around the castle and its grounds was a far better way of getting to know the new faces on campus and new students than the other options. Plus, he hated being stuck down in the dungeons all day. It was one of the unfortunate side effects of being the Potions Master. They were an excellent place for holding secrets, but they were also quite a cage.
It was in this wandering that he ended up by the Charms' Proffesor's office, stopping short when he heard the veins of conversation drifting out of the room up ahead. The murmur sounded familiar.... and he tried to place where he'd heard the male voice speaking to the teacher.
Masaomi?
Ah, Masaomi.
It took a moment for the professor to recognize the name. It was the name of a transfer student who was enrolled to be in his class. A Gryffindor, if he wasn't mistaken. But other than that he did not know much about the boy.
However, this conversation sounded promising... Professor Katsuragi clearly knew the boy from before he came, but then she was new, too, wasn't she? So he might learn more about both his colleague and the new student.... A two-in-one deal which he couldn't possibly pass up. Feeling horribly cliché, he stopped and moved himself to an alcove in the hallway just close enough he would be able to listen an observe. But the pursuit of information was all that he desired.. and it wasn't as if entering the room at this juncture would be useful to him. Maybe later, after secrets had been spilled... he could interject himself into the conversation as a friendly professor, and learn more that way.
But this, this was a good start.
