Enchanted jack-o-lanterns floated among the candles in midair. The table cloths had been exchanged with orange ones, and the walls were decorated with moving paper cut-outs depicting various halloween figures. It was darker than usual, and the general air was festive.
The teachers and prefects had finished decorating about an hour ago and left to don their costumes before the ball began. But just for the moment, the entire hall was empty and peaceful, in an odd spooky way. The moment ended, however, when the doors were flung open in with a bang and the first guests began to arrive.
It was time for the Halloween Ball to begin.

Isabella walked in, decked out in beautiful Vampire Queen garb. She'd pulled a bit of her hair back, pinning it in place with a bat-shaped pin, and had the fake fangs in her mouth. She was wearing her black and red dress, with the low V-neck and the barely knee-length skirt. She gracefully walked, almost gliding, to where the food was, getting herself a drink and leaning against the table, watching other guests trickle in. She was early, but she wanted to be there already to see if Marshall showed up. Officially, he'd never asked her to the dance, but that didn't mean they couldn't meet up here. And cause mischief.

Yellow fidgeted a little, waiting outside the great Hall. She was wearing the dress that Tomoyo had modified for her, and her hair was down. Her thoughts wandered a little as she looked to see where Jim was. He wasn't anywhere...even though he had asked her to come to the dance with him. Maybe she was being stupid all along. Maybe he hadn't really wanted to go to the dance with her. What if he didn't come at all!

After helping set up the decorations, Gumball had hurried back to his room to get ready. It wouldn't do to be late to a school function. Though he'd originally considered just wearing his dress robes, it would be nice to get into the spirit of things, so at the suggestion of one of his muggleborn friends he'd chosen a costume. The costume itself was a long white coat and included dark chunky goggles that he wore on the top of his head. According to his muggleborn friend, the appropriate name for this costume in the muggle world was "Mad Scientist", and he'd chosen it based off of his interest with experimenting with candy. It certainly wasn't a reference to his voice actor or anything.
Once he was dressed he quickly made his way from the Ravenclaw dorms to the Great Hall, worried that other students would have already arrived and may be causing trouble. Upon entering the room he was relieved to see only a few students, including one of Charlotte's friends (where was she anyway?) and a slytherin girl who he swore looked familiar somehow. Yellow looked nervous, so he greeted her with a smile.
"Good evening."

Yellow looked up at Gumball, her eyes wide. "G-Good Evening... She was a little upset that Jim wasn't there yet. "Y-Your costume looks nice."

Celty wandered into the dance, she hadn't bothered to come in a costume. No one had asked her to come and she had no great desire to impress anyone. She was mostly here to get food and then she planned to head back to the library or the common room and she could study or read before she went to bed early.
She covertly walked through the great hall, her robes swirling around her ankles. She walked straight around the outside edge of the room, the darkened hall hiding her. She gathered what food she wanted and began to eat, watching for the other people entering the Great Hall.

At her compliment, Gumball chuckled, adjusting the goggles on his head. "Thank you, but it's just something last minute. Your dress is lovely, though." He wondered why she was so upset, but didn't want to pry. Instead, to keep the conversation going, he asked, "Do you know if Charlotte's coming?"

"She hasn't talked about anything else since. I'm sure she w-will be here. She would n-n-never miss a chance t-to be with you." She smiled up at Gumball, happy at least that he didn't mind Charlotte's clingy nature.

Yayoi glided into the hall wearing a sparkling blue dress, hanging below her knees. She was showing a bit more clevage then she really would have wanted, and the dress was sleeveless, so she was that much more embaressed. Glancing around, slowly turning red, she saw who was there. After all, there was only one person she really wanted to see....

((OOC; For anyone that hasn't stalked at least one of the threads that mentioned this, Shion and Anri have temporarily switched bodies for the Halloween Ball. Aside from Isabela, and (I think) Edge and Masaomi, I don't think anyone has professed knowledge of this in-character, and we'd prefer that other characters besides the aforementioned three don't somehow just already know about it. Feel free to notice odd behavior, and if you figure it out logically and with legitimate reasons, that's okay too. To make things easier, Anri will be referring to herself as 'Shion', and vice versa. That's all! XD))
'Shion' entered the hall wearing a deep durple dress with a flared skirt which ended just below her knees. Her corset was adorned with hints of black lace, and black ribbons crisscrossed the area between her waist and neck. Hair teased into curls at the ends, a mini top hat rested off center atop her head, decorated with dark ribbons and flowers. Another lacy ribbon was wound around her right wrist, a corsage attached to it. In her other hand she held a boutonnière to give to Edge.
Looking around, 'Shion' spotted a familiar face. Momentarily forgetting about the switch, she headed for the third year Hufflepuff standing in a glittering gown the color of a summer's sky. "Yayoi-chan! You came!"

Edge walked in, humming happily to himself. He'd been able to clean his grandfather's old shinobi armor and added a few extra details. He'd added a red cape speckled with white, a white scarf that wrapped around his face in place of his usual mask, as well as red earrings. (Not his best move.) in his hands, he clutched a single white rose and his wand. He was hoping to find Shion, but so far, he hadn't seen the green-haired girl... There! A flash of green caught his eye. Silently and skillfully, he weaved his way towards the green-haired girl, gently positioning the rose in front of her. "Good evening, Shion." He smiled at the girl.

Pivoting, 'Shion' blushed and accepted the rose. Then, reaching forward, she pinned the boutonnière, which matched her corsage, onto Edge's armour. "Edge-sa--" she cut herself off. Shion probably didn't use such formal language in addressing people she knew. Like her date. She would speak very casually.
Suddenly at a loss as to how the real Shion normally spoke, 'Shion' resorted to using choice bits of slang. That was casual, right? "Wazzup, Edge? How's it hangin'?"
Wait. That was how that character from that movie she had seen a couple weeks ago had spoken. She coughed awkwardly and tried again. "I-I mean, good evening, Edge. Your costume looks very realistic." Plastering a smile on her face, she hoped he hadn't noticed her (extremely hard to miss) slip-up.

Edge blinked. Did Shion just use street slang? Wait, something seemed off. Then he remembered what Shion and Anri's plans were for the evening. It clicked almost instantaneously. He chuckled slightly. "Well thank you. Yours does as well." He whispered to her. "Shion told me your guy's plan already. By the way, she does call me Edge-san. And occasionally Edge-kun." He paused. "I think. I can't remember very well."

Isabela noticed her friend, Edge, and walked over gracefully. The dress floated around her, giving her what she hoped to be a very Vampiric look.
"Hello sensei! How's it hangin'?"

Doyle stood outside the Great Hall, waiting for Mimiko at the bottom of the stairs. He wore one of his old Quidditch uniforms; the Ballycastle Bats one, with black robes and a scarlet bat on the chest. In his hand he held his Firebolt, as it was a necessary item to complete the ensemble. Glancing up the stairs, he paced impatiently, hoping she'd get there soon.
