Fai's eyes lit up at the sight of cakes and sweet pastries...but, he didn't want to interrupt the class. (Ok, it was more that he was lazy) and so he mumbled a spell to make a doughnut levitate off the plate and into his hand. He smirked, and was oh so tempted to make it float to kuro, who detested sweets...but, the disruption it would cause to the class would probably earn them both a detention. He sat nomming the jammy dessert, watching the cage intently. "Ohhh!" he threw up a sugar-coated hand "...is it some kind of vampire?"
It was the only human shaped beast he knew (aside from werewolves, but they were only different when they'd transformed). He canted his head to one side, eyeing it "....probably a hungry one at that..." he'd heard of vamps that had reformed and turned tee-total as it were, refusing human blood and developing into more civilised folk. This did not seem to be the case here.

The Count perked a brow at the boy's strange answer. "A vampire? Why no," he glanced at the cage. With a gasp, his hands flew to his mouth. "Oh, dear! I seemed to have forgotten to remove your transfiguration, haven't I Ken-chan?" He giggled, before waving his wand, he whispered a spell to remove the transfiguration, and suddenly, the beastly man in the cage transformed. Now, it was a little yappy dog. It looked like a Jack Russell Terrier, a muggle pet, except it's tail was forked. Count D smiled with relief, and knelt down beside the cage, slipping his hand inside. "Shh, shh, these are my students." The dog slowly stopped its constant barking, and began to lick at the man's hand affectionately. Count D returned his attention to the students. "Now, I ask again; do any of you know what this is?"

Fenris' hand shot up. At first, he hadn't recognized the creature under its transfiguration, but he now knew exactly what it was. "A Crup, sir! Crups originated in the southeast of England, and are rumored to be wizard-created, instead of naturally occuring, due to their loyalty to wizards and hatred of Muggles. Normally, their tails are severed by a harmless charm, so Muggles will not be able to tell that they are magical animals, but the tell-tale sign distinguishing a Crup from a regular, Muggle Jack Russel is the forked tail." He smiled proudly. At least Care of Magical Creatures was one thing he knew A LOT about.

Fai looked a bit bemused....if it wasn't a vampire then what on earth....oh. He grinned a little at the cute little doggy; except it wasn't a dog. Fai had never seen one before, though he did know what it was. A wizard bred 'dog called a Crup' - much like wizards had their own magical cats, or Kneazles (Ashura had a couple of them, though his own familiar was as far as he knew, a regular cat). Fai waited for someone else to answer whilst he finished off his food. He licked the sugar off his fingers, glancing as Fenris's hand shot up. (ooc: you got there before i did ^_^;

Smiling proudly, the Count stood up, nodding. "Excellent. I take it you love animals. Perhaps we should have a chat sometime." He moved to the front of the cage and opened it, quickly reaching down to scoop up the animal. Stroking it, he began to pace the front of the classroom. "Yes, what you said was quite right. They are wizard-created creatures. Can you tell me of some animals that are naturally occurring? Anyone?" He already had the answers in his head, as it was a really easy question to answer. He hoped for a certain one, however, as for his next surprise awaited behind the door at the back of his classroom...

"Naturally occuring magical animals?" Fai repeated, head resting on his hands "Unicorns, hyppogryffs, Dragons....that kind of thing?" since this wasn;t DADA, he assumed that the teacher was not after a list of sentient beings that either by choice or wizarding law, had their status demoted to 'beast' rather than 'being' (like centaurs, vampires, werewolves and the like).

Violet smiled at Fenris' enthusiasm for this class. She could tell easily that this was his favorite, without even having to ask. At the professor's next question she tilted her head; that wasn't a very specific question- there were a lot of naturally-occurring magical creatures. So she listened to Fai's answer and then listed a few more, keeping her face hidden. "There are also thestrals, runespoors, acromatulas, pixies, gnomes....that's a very broad question, sir." She had a feeling he was waiting for someone to list one in particular.

"Ah, the list can go on and on, couldn't it?" He placed the pooch down, and gave him a pat on the head, telling him to stay. He then moved towards the door in the back, and lightly placed his fingers atop it. "Yes, yes, all very good answers. Now, I have a special surprise for you all..." Slowly, he opened the door, holding his free hand up to the opening as it grew wider, as if to tell the creature behind it to stay back. Once the door was opened, everyone would see a unicorn filly, small and feeble, prancing around inside of the huge room that D had just opened. The Count smiled at the creature, and patted its nose, before leading it out of the room just a bit. "This is my little friend, Tabby. Her mother has been a friend of mine since she was a filly, and allowed me to bring her daughter here to show you all. Isn't she spectacular?" He knew he was probably breaking some sort of rule, but he didn't much care. Should questions arise, he would simply make her appear human, and thus undetectable.

Violet grinned at the unicorn filly, tucking her hair behind an ear to see better. This was definitely a wonderful surprise! She wondered if she was from the same herd that Fenris had introduced her to. And if she was, would she remember Violet? Then again, it was pretty doubtful it was the same filly she had met a little while ago. Still, unicorns were probably her favorite magical creatures at this point. "She's beautiful, professor!"

((ooc: okilly ^_^))
Fai blinked, craning his head to see around kuro's spikey hair and get a better look. It was a foal...but a shockingly golden foal. The creature was beautiful, no doubt about that....but his experiances with the magical creatures in the forest was limited. He knew the Thestrals, and the weird rabbit creatures....he'd heard of the giant spider, and even seen a hippogryff flying over a forest near his own home. He had no experiance with unicorns beyond the usual fairytales and myths though, and so the first question he asked was "Sir....um....don't unicorns usually have....you know, a horn?"

Kurogane was lagging behind the class, he wasnt very good with recognising these creatures. He watched the group of creatures. Looking at the foal silently. He let the others talk, just listening and trying to take it all the details they were saying.
He admired the color of the foal it really was an enchanting creature, he had never seen one this close before.

"Isn't she?" he grinned a little, stroking the colt's mane tenderly. To Fai, he nodded with a soft smile. "Of course! It's right here," he moved the tuft of hair on the colt's forehead, exposing a small little horn beginning to form, "she's just a bit underdeveloped. But that's alright. She'll be the mightiest of her herd one day." Tabby whinnied, and pushed her head into his abdomen. He chuckled. "Alright, alright. Would you all like to come and pet her? She's feeling very social today. But please be gentle; it takes a lot of work to work up trust in a unicorn."

Fenris smiled when he saw Violet's face. He could take three guesses as to why she looked so happy to see a Unicorn, and the first three wouldn't count. He stood, but glanced at Violet, letting her make the first move. As he'd mentioned before, Unicorns were naturally shy around those of the male persuasion, even Fenris with his great animal skills, and so he figured he would let a female step forward first.
