Normal? What does *anyone* in *this* family know about normal?

"Um, thanks, all three of you." Violet looked up and smiled slightly. "M-maybe we can practice together? I could probably use all the help I can get." She let out a small chuckle. While it may seem selfish, she didn't want to choose between the three. Having this many friends at one time was pretty nice.

At Gumball's calling, Cake leapt onto the table in front of the boy, purring the rubbing up against his book. Fionna's grinned at her pink-haired friend, and eagerly jogged over to him, waving. "Hey!" she called as she neared him. "What's up?" She took a seat beside him, taking her backpack off and laying it on the ground beside her. She also removed her hat, since she was sitting at the table, letting her long blonde hair drop below her shoulders.

"Mn, not much. There was an altercation-- two, actually-- earlier, but they've been solved now. Also," he added, shutting his textbook and laying it down on the table, "I've just finished my reading for Arithmancy. That leaves me with nothing else that's urgently due, so I can help you with your assignments if you like."

Fionna's grinned and laughed a little. "You actually don't have anything else to do? It seems like it's been forever since you weren't busy." Cake pounced onto Fionna's lap and curled up, resting. "I actually don't have anything either, if you can believe it. Everything is so hectic with the first years around, the teachers haven't assigned anything too hard." All while she was talking, she was petting Cake, earning her a few loving licks.

He reached out to scratch behind the cat's ears, greeting her quietly. "Salutations, Cake." He then turned his attention back to her owner. "Has it really been long? I'm sorry...I've had lots of prefect duties to take care of. Marshall makes it twice as hard as it needs to be."

"Hey, I understand, it's cool." Cake purred and pawed at the boy, making Fionna giggle. "Cake, you're such an attention freak." The cat threw her owner a dirty look, before jumping over to Gumball's lap, making her new perch there. Fionna turned her eyes back up to her friend. "Marshall? Giving you a hard time? Nawww." She laughed. "But he's so funny! Remember last year? When he bleached that one guy's cloa..." her voice trailed off, and a small blush appeared on her cheeks, "that was you..."

He chuckled, taking up the task of scratching Cake's ears again. "Yes, it was...He did again this year, did you hear? It backfired, however; he ended up splashing himself as well. That was Charlotte's doing, if I recall correctly..."

Fionna covered her mouth to stifle a laugh, but failed miserably. "Are you for real?! Marshall, you're losin' it!" she called to her dark friend from across the room. She leaned her chair back a bit, crossing her ankles beneath the table, and relaxed. "I feel so out of the loop; I can't believe I missed that."

"You'll just have to spend more time with us." It was only 'us', he reminded himself, because Marshall refused to leave him alone. "I'm sure he'll try something again, and probably do just as incompetent a job of accomplishing it." Mentioning Charlotte had reminded him of her, and he glanced around the hall for his first-year buddy, but didn't see her.

Fionna smiled, "I guess I will." She then pulled out her sketchpad and tossed it onto the table. "Til then- it's drawing time!" She flipped open the book and began doodling on a random page. "What should it be, BG?" She grinned up at Gumball. "I'vd been drawing Cake for the last few days, but she's boring now." Said cat sent her owner another glare, and flicked her tail at her.

"Hm? Bored drawing Cake? How can that be?" He was mostly kidding, and rubbed the cat's back to reassure her that he still loved her, of course. He thought of what she could draw, and it reminded him... "Were you aware that there's a first year Ravenclaw who's an amazing artist?" he asked curiously.

"Hm?" She had looked back down at her paper to draw what he said, but at the subject change, her eyes moved back to him. "There is? Who?"

"His name is Mac, he-- hang on--" he rooted around in his bag, pulling out a folder and flicking through it. Tucked neatly between extensive class notes and essay drafts was a scrap of parchment with a drawing on it. He withdrew it triumphantly and presented it to her, beaming. "He drew me a unicorn!"

"Woah!" she snatched the paper from his hands, gazing at it in wonder. "This is awesome!! I wonder if he could teach me!" She handed the paper back to Gumball, returning his bright grin. "Mac, huh? That's an awesome name! He must be tough." She puffed out her chest and filled her cheeks with air, as if to mimic a tough guy.

He laughed, shaking his head. "He's only eleven, Fionna. I doubt he's ready to take you on yet." He didn't mention that he figured it'd take a much stronger man to fight Fionna-- he was never sure where the line lay between hurting her feelings for making her sound too feminine or too masculine. "It's really impressive though, isn't it?" He leaned forward to peer at the drawing as well, even though he'd seen it many times before.
