"I’ve lived in the middle of nowhere for as long as I can remember, I live in a place called Montressor, but no one here knows much about it…” He responded casually, this was good, he was making progress and learning a little bit about Yellow.

"Did you live with your parents?? Did you live in a magical village? Or were you clueless until you got the letter, like me?" Yellow was eager to learn more about Jim, and now that he was opening up a little she didn't feel bad about asking questions.

The first question hit him hard. “Well, ONE of my parents… my dad just got up and left to go on an adventure one day… and he hasn’t come back since…” He shook it off and then answered her other two questions. “No, I was also a muggle and had no idea that I had magical abilities, then one day this owl flies into our window. That was an adventure.” He grinned a bit remembering how the owl was rather derpish and had hit the window when it was very obviously closed.

Yellow laughed a little. "The way you say that makes it sound a little like i-it hit the window? Or maybe missed it..." Yellow thought back to the way that she had been informed of her own magical talents. She had come home after a long day of school and had been met by her very serious uncle and a professor from the school. She still hadn't been able to believe that she could use magic even after she had gotten to the school. She was sure the other students and the teachers were all playing with her or she had gone crazy or something! In her mind, magic just wasn't real....but that all changed when she had used her first spell, wingardium leviosa.

“Yeah, it did!” he smiled and laughed. he paused for a second. “And you? you said you were clueless? I’m guessing you meant that you were from a non-magical family as well?"

"My uncle has no magic. But I don't know about my parents. I never met them." She smiled a little at him. It really was hard to miss something she never had. But in a way she was jealous of the people who did have parents even if it was only one parent. She was too worried about being a burden on her uncle to really consider him a father figure, even though he told his friends that she was just like his daughter. "I live with my uncle....he's been taking care of me as long as I can remember."

“Oh wow, we have something in common there.” He gave her a little grin, “Except I had a mom, you had an uncle… but you never met them? what was that like?” he tilted his head in curiosity.

"What do you mean? Not having parents??" Yellow blushed a little and smiled awkwardly. "I never really knew anything different. I couldn't tell you what it would be like to not live with my uncle. I don't know what it's like to have parents."

“Yeah, I guess that makes sense.” He nodded and paused for a bit, wanting the conversation to continue, but not knowing exactly what to say. “So… what do you like to do? Before you got here.”

"I....I liked....well....I liked to draw." She wasn't about to mention that she still draws and she was NEVER going to let any of her friends here at hogwarts see the pictures that she had drawn. For one thing, they weren't very good and for another, a lot of them were of her magical friends...and for some reason she had never really been happy with her first sketch of Jim. So she had drawn another....and another....until almost half of the pages of Hogwarts sketches were of Jim.
