He knew Marshall slept late on weekends, because that was one of the few times of peace and quiet. He just hadn't realized how late. He'd been loitering by the door to the Great Hall for over an hour and a half, waiting for the boy. If he'd known where the Slytherin common room was, he'd have been waiting there; it'd be far less conspicuous. Although, on second thought, it'd probably be much more obvious who he was waiting for. Maybe he was better off where he was.
He leaned against the wall and tried to look unconcerned, flipping through a book he'd brought with him in a vain attempt to study. He didn't even want to be having this conversation; if Marshall didn't get here soon he was going back to his dorm.

Said Slytherin strolled close to the room, running a hand through his hair. Why had Barnaby insisted on talking this early?? He groaned, looking around absentmindedly. He, under no circumstances, was a morning person. And it showed. He looked even more unkempt than usual, as if he had rolled right out of bed. Not that he had or anything! He rolled out of bed ten minutes ago. You have to respect the ten minutes.
Unfortunately, the Slytherin commonroom was way down in the dungeons and he actually attempted to be on time... Until he realized he was already an hour and a half late. So then, his pace had slowed and it had taken him even longer than it should have, but finally, he had arrived to the Great Hall. He plastered a grin on his face, waving lazily to the Ravenclaw. "What's up, Barnaby?"

Finally! Gumball snapped his book shut and tucked it neatly under one elbow. "Marshall! Do you have any idea what time it is?" As he spoke he grabbed his classmate's arm and dragged him into a room off the hallway, not caring that he probably hadn't eaten yet. After what happened yesterday, there was no way he was going to be seen with him by half the school.

"Actually, I don't--" His sentence was cut off when Gumball took hold of his arm, dragging him around the corner to an empty room. "What are you doing? I wanna eat!" Marshall complained. It had to be around noon. That meant he had skipped breakfast and was omitting lunch as they spoke! His bottomless pit would not be happy with this. Already, it was starting to act up and Marshall swiftly smacked his stomach [hoping Gumball didn't see that.] to keep it from groaning again.

Luckily, he had come PREPARED. Setting his bag on one of the desks, he slid his book into it and rooted around, finally coming up with a small bundle wrapped in napkins. "Here, I took some toast so you'd stop whining." He held it out to the other boy. Anything to bribe him into silence so he could get his point across. Speaking of which... "Marshall. We need to talk."

Marshall's eyes lit up and he made a grab for the toast, already beginning to shove it into his mouth when the other boy spoke again. Talk? Who talked ? That was a girl thing! It was like... Feeling conversations. He gave an involuntary shudder. Scary.
"Yeah? What is it?" He tried to chew with his mouth closed, but you know what? That's pretty dang hard if you're eating. Thankfully... No wait... UN-Thankfully, the toast was almost gone! You win some, you lose some, am I right? He cleared his throat, brushing himself off until there wasn't a crumb of toast left on his robes.
"What is it?" He repeated, stifling a yawn.

Darn it, he had been hoping that the toast-bait would last a little bit longer. He was forever forgetting to account for Marshall's complete lack of manners. "It's about Shion's party." He hadn't come in here with a clear plan on what to say, but he knew he would never be comfortable until they discussed what had happened and he'd made it clear that it was NOT OKAY.

"Hm? Shion's party? Oh yeah! That was awesome, wasn't it?" Marshall grinned, pulling up a chair, all but collapsing into it. He tried to think back to what Gumball might be talking about... There really wasn't anything that that bad there... And as far as he knew, Barnaby didn't know that he did anything to the punch... Crap. Maybe he found out? Was this what that was about? It wasn't anything bad! It wouldn't harm anyone eithe-- Okay, so maybe it would have sent a kid to the nurses office for a day or three, but no one had seemed sick! He studied Barnaby's face, trying to figure out, exactly, how much trouble he was in... Annnnd if he knew about the punch.

Gumball refused to sit, instead standing awkwardly in front of him, his bag still on the desk. He fiddled with the strap as he tried to figure out how, exactly Marshall didn't know what he was talking about. "It was enjoyable, yes..." even if Shion wasn't here, she was his friend, and he didn't want to seem ungrateful. "What did you tell Anri?" That wasn't what he'd meant to say; in fact, at the party itself he'd been relieved to have left during that conversation. Why was he asking about it now? He mentally scolded himself. That wasn't the point of this meeting.

Marshall leaned back until the chair had only two feet on the ground, slowly rocking back and forth. "Yeah, it was awesome, so is that it? I can tell Shion if you want?" He fiddled with his bangs. He could probably go for a haircut sometime soon... Wait. Gumball's mouth was moving. That meant he was saying something. Time to tune back in!
"What did you tell Anri?"
What did he tell Anri? None of it was important really... Except for 'don't drink the punch', but there was no way he was telling Barnaby that. Hm... What else was there...? Oh, right. Anri thought he was in love with Barnab-- Wait a minute. Could that be it? Was the dude seriously bothered by this? He could tell him honestly what he told Anri... But that would probably end up with Marshall being hurt. But hey, can the bookworms of Ravenclaw really throw a punch? Now seemed the best time as ever to find out!
"Hm... Let's see... I told her I was like... totally in love with you, we were an item, annnnnnd we hook up under the bleachers in the Quidditch stadium." Marshall counted each of these off on his fingers. Only three? Not bad, maybe he could have been more descriptive with Anri... Maybe next time. He looked up to Barnaby, quirking an eyebrow with a smirk, daring him to say something.

For a moment, he was sure Marshall was kidding. Even an idiotic troublemaker like him wouldn't go that far! But one look at that smirk and he knew that it was true. "You jerk." That was a huge insult coming from him, someone who always tried to speak kindly to others. "How could you?! I can't have people thinking that!" How could Marshall be so calm about this? What if the teachers found out? What if it got back to his parents?!

"It's not like anyone cares, chill dude!" Marshall gasped, trying to catch a breath after starting uncontrollable laughter. The whole thing was just so funny! No one thought he was actually serious, did they? It's not like they should care anyway; let them mind their own business. Of course he was being kind of hypocritical, inserting himself in Barnaby's business just for the laughs [but that's justified. Anything for the laughs.].

"They will care! How do you not care?!" He just couldn't understand! In the same way that Gumball found the idea of being associated with Marshall horrifying, wouldn't Marshall feel the same way about being associated with him? He'd professed dislike for him often enough. "You need to tell her you were joking! Set her right!"

The chair hit the floor loudly as Marshall leaned forward, causing it to land back on all four feet. "That's just it. I told her I was kidding and she didn't seem to believe me." The Slytherin stared to the Ravenclaw, trying to figure out exactly why he was so annoyed by this. It didn't matter really, did it? And it wasn't like Anri was going to profess this to the entire school. Really! He had something to worry about. If Barnaby just kept away from him, wouldn't the problem be solved?--Oh, but he would miss his favorite person to annoy... Hm...
"Got anything else to eat?"

"She didn't believe you?!" That was it. Ignoring Marshall's second question, he crossed his arms. "You need to stay away from me."
