There was a reasonably companionable silence for the ride, and it wasn't long before the boat lightly bumped against the bank the other side of the lake. Another bit of magic, and Fai tethered the boat so that it didn't float away, then climbed out easilly. It wasn't far from Hogsmeade train station - this was how the first years got their first glimpse of the castle after all.
Hogsmeade village wasn't that big, although for student of a boaring school (no matter how enchanted) it was always good to just take some time out. Mostly everyone stuck to the usual places; Honeydukes for sweets, Three Broomsticks for butterbeer, the joke shop of course....but on the outskirts and in the side streets, there were other places to visit. The shrieking shack, most haunted spot in Britain, or a quaint little teahouse that was a popular spot for couples (although he couldn't imagine Kurosama going in there), and there was another more disreputable pub, that probably wouldn't question why two students were in the village on a non school santioned trip.

Kurogane followed Fai feeling tired, he'd almost fallen asleep on the boat the gentle rocking and the sound of water hadn't helped. Kuro noticed that they were heading to the disreputable pub but didn't really care. It would probably be quieter than the other one.
He headed for one of the empty dark corners and sat down in the corner and glanced at the small scrappy menu to see what they had to eat.

Kurogane was quiet, and Fai didn't try to pester him...too much. He lead the hufflepuff to the quieter of the pubs; it was run down, dark and generally not the most friendly place in the world. Still, it was quiet and the staff didn't ask too many questions. He let Kurosama chose the table, not minding it was out of the way....whilst the dark haired young man looked at the menu, Fai headed to the bar. He ordered a Butterbeer for himself, then sweet-talked the barmaid into allowing him a firewhisky....they were underage, but he flashed a smile and spoke fairly, complimenting and polite until she finally slid the stronger drink towards him. He paid and thanked her, then wandered carefully back over to his friend. He put the glass of firewhiskey in front of kuropop, then slid into a seat and started to swig from his own bottle. "They're still taking food orders if you want something."

Kuro eyed the drink Fai set down noticing that it was obviously not just a kids drink, leaning close he sniffed it then took a sip. It wasn't the nicest thing but it warmed him a little. He took another big sip then put it down glancing at Fai.
He still wasn't sure he actually wanted to eat anything, his body said he was hungry but with all that had happened he wasn't sure he actually wanted to eat anything. Kuro shrugged when Fai said that they were still taking food orders being indecisive.

Fai smiled a little as kurogane sniffed and tried the drink, looking suspiscious. He didnt say anything about it, but did tug the tatty menu towards him, scanning it. He found something that he was sure kuro would at least eat, even if it wasn't the young mans favourite meal (...which would have been hard to come by in england, given it was some japanese food fai couldn't pronounce) ”well, i'm a bit peckish...” he smiled and popped back to the bar to order, returning shortly to his drink, sipping quietly.

Kurogane eyed Fai when he returned from the bar a 2nd time, trying to figure something out. He eyed the blonde between sips of his whiskey scowling.
"Why?" asked Kurogane "Why do you care what happens in my life?" he said obviously unable to understand it himself.

Fai ignored the looks, until he noticed the scowl. Hmmm...maybe grumpy Hufflepuffs and alcohol didn't mix. It wouldn't surprise him if Kurogane was an angry drunk.
The blonde blinked at the question, apparently not having expected that at all. Why indeed. There were many things he could say....truthful, or no so truthful. He didn't care. Or he cared because he didn't like to see people upset. Because he knew what it was like to lose someone dear....someone who should have been with you for a lot longer. Or because over the past 4 years he'd gotten to know Kurogane, and he liked him, even when he was grumpy or chasing him, threatening to hex his face off. None of those would go down well, so he just smiled and replied simply with "Because we're friends."

Kuro looked at him unsureley, the raven haired boy had never really had a 'friend' before. He was unsure on how to respond.
"f..friend," he repeared then blushed a lil unsure if Fai would notce it seems as quite dark where they were sitting. He reached for his drink and took a bit swig of the alcholic liquid.

Kurogane sounded hesitant and a tad confused by the idea, and Fai found it cute. He even thought he might have caught a slight blush on the teens face, but it was dark and Kurogane was hurriedly occupying himself with drink. He had to laugh softly though at his reaction "Why are you so surprised? After four years of me helping you with spells, or hanging around to pester you, i would have thought you'd have realised it."
Well, ok, maybe it wasn't obvious. after all, he constantly found new ways to tease and mock the man, delighting in the reactions he got....and yes, he never spoke about his own family or his past, beyond mentioning Ashura vaguely....and he supposed they didn't exactly hang out so much as he popped up to annoy Kurogane and left once he'd been chased or had things thrown at him....still, he enjoyed the company, and once you got past kuroganes grumpyness Fai could see that there was a nicer side to him. He loved being able to help Kurogane with spells, seeing the frustration ease from his face, replaced with determination and finally satisfaction when the spell worked.

He had a friend, really? Kuro sat back a little unsure what to say to that, how was he supposed to act? Kuro had pretty much learned everything from his parents and helped around the dojo. Even when he was briefly at school he didn't really have friends. He pretty much kept to himself. But now.... he had Fai.... he blushed more but didn't have a drink to hide it this time though.

Another laugh, and Fai shook his head a little "Of course you have....you just don't know it." he had to grin at how clueless Kurogane was....and the blush, it was adorable. He was about to tease the man about it, when food came. Fai thanked the lady with another charming smile (and ordered another drink), then when she left he pushed the plate and drink towards Kurogane; he'd really ordered the Burger for grumpy-pants, but he was actually peckish, and started stealing chips off the side of the plate with a cheeky smile.
"Besides, you're too much fun to tease...my time at Hogwarts would be very dull if i didn't have Kuro-sama to pester!" he was only half joking. Whilst he was friendly and chatty, it wasn't very often he actually let anyone see the real him...and it got quite lonely. Even if Kurogane didn't know it, finding someone who also had experianced death of a loved one did a little to make Fai feel less like a freak....like someone understood. And it gave him something to focus on; he wanted to help the Hufflepuff, not wanting the man to feel the horrible guilt and emptiness that he did.

Kuro looked down at the food, his stomach gurgled a little but Kuro sat back not really wanting to eat anything. But that was more his mood talking than actual sense talking. He hadn't eaten much in a few days, he could probably use a decent meal.
Sitting forward he started picking at the burger, the burger was soon gone as were the fries. Kuro felt a little after the meal draining his 2nd drink.

Fai was glad to see the food disappearing, even if it was slowly at first. At least Kurotan was eating, which would hopefully make him feel a little better (in body anyway). Fai stole a few more chips, munching quietly.
The second drink was gone before Fai had even finished his first. He couldn't stop a little grin "...You might want to ease up on the drink, kuro-sama....that's not weak stuff like Butterbeer." he didn;t want to try carrying the man back to the castle; although he supposed he could use a levitating charm.

#"i'm fine," said Kurogane although he looked a little wobbly, he sighed a little looking at his empty cup wondering if he could get some more of it.
He looked at Fai thinking to himself again, the blonde was a little annoying, but Kurogane did seem to rely on him. They did spend quite alot of time together weather it was Fai bothering him with generally being annoying if they were working on homework or going over spells together.
He was pulled from his thoughts by a hiccup that suddenly escaped his lips.

Fai chuckled softly as the defiant 'I'm fine' was followed by a hiccup fromt he raven haired young man. "Oh?" he finished the rest of his butterbeer off, then signaled the barmaid for two more drinks, sliding her a couple of extra coins when she came over, since she was now eying Kurogane skeptically, as though she was actually starting to wonder if plying minors with alcohol was actually such a good plan. At the money, she decided to look the other way and return to the bar with the empties.
Fai pushed another glass towards his friend "Last one, Kuro-sama...."
