Edge loved the night. There was something mysterious and beautiful about it... He shook out his hair and looked at the clear night sky, the moon hanging high in the sky. A sudden chill sent shivers down his spine. He glanced behind him, hoping that Shion showed up soon.

Winter was so cold, but nothing could keep her with being with Edge tonight. Teal eyes looked up at the silver moon, and all was quiet. Shion felt at peace, for once, as she made her way down to meet Edge.
Her hair was down, per usual, but her cloak was closed tightly around her. In the distance, she saw the outline of her ninja boyfriend, and smiled. Her walking became quicker, and soon, she was by his side.
"Hey there. You wanted to see me?" She gently slid her hand over his, looking up at him.

Edge smiled as Shion neared, glad to see the girl he cared about. He intertwined his fingers through hers, looking out at the clear night sky. "I just thought it was a nice night, and I wanted to spend some time with my girlfriend." He smiled light-heartedly.

Shion blushed; she still wasn't used to being called someone's girlfriend, let alone Edge's. She rested her head on his shoulder, and looked up at the sky as well. "You know, you never answered me earlier." her eyes moved up to his face, "What made you like me?"

Edge blinked. "Well, to be honest, when I first met you, it was really just your looks. I mean, you are an attractive woman, I won't lie." He paused, thinking of how to word his next sentence. "What I really fell for was your acceptance of the way I really am. I've always thought of myself as Edge the masked quirky ninja and Edge, the 17-year old guy with a crappy love life. You saw both sides, and you were still there for me." He shut his eyes, repeating his mental mantra of 'ninjas don't cry.' "I don't have to have a mask around you. I can just be myself."

Shion smiled, and tears welled in her eyes. "Of course I accepted you... What wasn't to accept?" She leaned up to give his cheek a soft kiss. "Edge... Would you accept me, if something bad happened.. a long time ago...?" She bit her lower lip nervously.

Edge stared down at Shion. "Shion, nothing you could do or have done would change how I feel about you. You accepted me for myself, and I accept you for yourself." He leaned down and placed a gentle kiss on the girl's lips.

A tear slipped from Shion's eye when he kissed her. She wanted to believe him, so badly, but she was so horrible...
When they separated, she wiped at her eyes. Her past was resurfacing in her heart, and if she didn't tell Edge now, she probably never could. "Edge, I have to.. I have to tell you something..."

Shion held onto his hands good and tight, for it might be the last time. After this, he may not even want to look at her anymore.
She looked down at the ground as more tears came, but she forced herself to look at him. "Edge... I can never go home... Because..." she sniffed, and took in a deep breath, "I killed six people!" She began to sob, and sunk to her knees, still desperately clutching onto his hands.

Edge's mind reeled in shock. Shion... His best friend... Killed six people? "Shion... Why didn"t you tell me this?" He kneeled down next to her and wrapped his arms around her for comfort. He knew what killing did to someone. Entire generations of his own people lost their minds as a result of all the bloodshed they were forced to do as assassins. "It makes no difference to me, Shion. I still care about you, and want to be with you."

"No, no! You don't understand! My sister! My grandmother! Innocent people! I killed them all!" She was hysterical, looking up at him with mournful eyes. "I was sick, so sick.. I had a disease... If I got too angry, or jealous, I blacked out... When I woke up, there was... blood... so much..." She curled into herself on the ground, clutching her hair tightly.

Edge sighed. "Shion, I know. I'm a ninja, an assassin essentially. I've had to see innocent men, women, even CHILDREN die due to some crazy bastard's petty wishes." He grabbed her by the shoulders, his own eyes burning with a mix of anger and sadness. "I was FORCED to kill my best friend's mother! I know how you feel, Shion, I know." He felt tears rolling down his own cheeks, but he didn't care. It wasn't about him. It was about her, Shion.

Shion's shoulders fell, and she placed her hands on his cheeks. "You... you understand...?" She really wasn't expecting it. He, in addition to Masaomi and Anri, actually understood her. Suddenly, she didn't feel so alone.
She wrapped her arms around him, and pressed her lips against his. Tears continued to flow down her cheeks, but she felt relieved. She didn't have to deceive him anymore, she could really put her past behind her now.

Edge was completely caught off guard when Shion suddenly kissed him. after the initial shock, he kissed her back, his eyes shut, totally lost in the moment. He wrapped his arms around her waist, holding her closer. He didn't want to miss a second of this.
