With all the cots pushed to one side over the summer, the hospital wing had taken on an empty, skeletal air. It was a relief to Shinra when, the day school began, he could throw open the curtains and scrub down every inch of the dusty stone floors. He could leave it to the house elves, of course, but this was his little world and he wanted to know every inch of it himself. Once the floor was clean, it was a matter of minutes to drag the cots into neat rows and cover them with blankets.
And then came his favorite part. Every cabinet and cupboard was opened and rusting old medical equipment dug out. He conjured up buckets of boiling water to sterilize everything, and placed it neatly back in the cabinets when he was done, noting the location of each item in case he had to find it again in a hurry. On shelves cut into the walls he lined up little gleaming bottles of healing herbs, each neatly labeled with its' name-- the properties he knew by heart.
His desk was last, and it took the least time. He tucked into the drawers papers and files containing the medical histories of students he'd treated in past years. A stack of parchment and a quill were placed neatly on top for note-taking, and his favorite white coffee mug (a gift) set carefully in the corner, and the hospital wing was ready for business.
He opened the door to make it look more inviting, and looked down the hall both ways.
No one.
Well, sometimes students took their own sweet time about injuring themselves, and that was okay, if boring. Not that he wanted people to get hurt, of course. He flopped down in the chair at his desk, scootching it around so it faced the door. Someone had to come soon. Right?

The pink haired first year poked her head in the door, looking for the nurse. The school year had just started and, like always, she made it her duty to figure out where the heck the nurses office was. It had been a while since she had gotten better, but it was better to be safe than sorry.
"Hel--whoa" Charlotte jumped, realizing there was someone sitting there. Staring straight. At. The. Door. She quickly turned back out the doorway and hid behind the wall, but it was no use. She knew that man was sitting there, waiting. Charlotte took a one deep breath... And another. Okay, he's the nurse, you have to talk to him. He won't bite. He's just a nurse. You've come across all kinds of them before, just... Take a step in.
The young girl marched in the office, determined to get through this introduction as easily as possible.
Stare him straight in the eye. Stick out your hand for a handshake. Talk in an audible voice. Start out strong.
"I'm Charlotte..."
Annnnnnnnnnd end weakly. She stared at the ground, shuffling her feet. It wasn't that she disliked all the doctors and nurses, it was just that they made her nervous.

His first patient of the year! Shinra clapped his hands together, delighted, and leaped to his feet to welcome her. His face fell when she backed away. What? Had he scared her? But he wasn't scary; he was downright loveable! He was all prepared to point this fact out to her when she marched back in bravely. He couldn't hide a chuckle as she introduced herself sternly. "It's good to meet you." He shook her offered hand, highly amused by the tiny girl's grownup action. She had to be what, eleven? That seemed an accurate guess, judging by her round face and childish figure. "My name's Dr. Kishitani." He may not have his license but he enjoyed the title.
Now, what was her reason for coming to the hospital wing? He looked her up and down; she'd come here under her own power, and she wasn't shaking or sweating. He hadn't been able to take her pulse during the brief handshake, but her body temperature had seemed normal. So not sickness, probably, and there were no visible injuries.
Ah, he realized. It had to be the hair. As he had guessed, she was a first year student and it had been some trickster's idea of a prank to curse her into having pink hair. Satisfied with his diagnosis, he nodded to himself.
"How can I help you, Charlotte?"

Fenris was exhausted by the time he entered the medical wing. Sure, it was a girl he was carrying and she was pretty light, but even a macho would have difficulty dragging her all the way from the grounds. He entered the door with the girl in tow. "Doctor? Nurse? This woman needs immediate medical..." He noticed the sweet first year talking to the doctor. "Excuse me, sir." He came up beside the first year. "We were racing and... well.. lets just say she's a tree hugger of the extreme sort."

Amitola would have resented that, if she hadn't been bordering the unconscious. She groaned, "Why did the sky turn orange? And where did that little dragon go..?"

"Fenris." He said, to both the first year and the doctor. "Excuse me for a minute the honor of shaking your hands." He gazed at the girl in his arms. It was sad that, the first time he had a girl actually in his arms, she was barely lucid and would probably punch him the second she was. "I don't even know her name."

The moment the boy entered the room, bringing a patient with him, Shinra was already assessing her condition.
"Put her down over here." He helped the boy take the rainbow-haired girl to one of the cots and lay her down on it gently, instructing him to be careful of her head and neck. "Average temperature, pulse a little fast, eyes...?" He drew his wand and flicked it neatly, whispering in the back of his mind Lumos! A bright spark of light beaded at the end of his wand, and he concentrated it on the girl's eyes, checking to see if her pupils reacted to the change. Not looking away from his patient, he addressed the other boy cheerfully. "Showing off, were you?" He chuckled; he knew how that was, doing idiotic things to get another's attention.

"Huh?" Fenris paused, startled. Was that really the impression he gave off? "N-No. She...almost pushed me into the lake. I reacted with some insults, and she wanted to fight. I have a strict no girls fighting rule, so she decided to race. I was going to let her win, but she looked back..." Fenris felt like, in theory, he could leave now. He had no ties to this girl, didn't even know her name, and suspected she would be quite angry with him once she regained herself. But strangely, and without any reason to, he drew up a chair on the opposite side of the doctor and sat.

After checking her eyes, Shinra placed his wand on the bedside table and lifted one of her arms carefully, checking for broken bones.
"More of a rivalry, then?" He was just as amused by that as by the other prospect. He shot Fenris an approving glance as the teenager pulled up a chair.
"She's not fully unconscious, and she doesn't seem to have a concussion." He was still checking for broken bones, but she appeared to have no permanent injuries.

"This is the first time we have met, she and I, but I suppose one could say that." Fenris leaned his elbows on his knees and his head on his hands. "Do you know her? I had imagined that she would be one who is in here often..." He listened to the doctor's words. "So she'll be okay?"

He chuckled at the first question, gesturing at her vibrant hair with one hand as if to say how could I forget? "All of the quidditch players are regulars here. She not as often though." Whether that was due to her bearing all but the worst injuries herself, or because she was a such a nimble flier that she wasn't often injured, he didn't know. "She'll be fine. It all just depends on when she wakes up." He lifted his wand again, and tapped the small cuts on her face and arms, healing them one-by-one.

Fenris watched, fascinated. The doctor was so smooth with the spell. Fenris always had difficulty preforming even the simplest of spells, because he had such an aversion to magic and those who used it. He turned his attention to the girl. He hoped she'd be awake sometime soon. Maybe then he could learn her name.

As skin grows over the last of her cuts, Shinra glances across at the student, brown eyes studying him from behind his glasses.
He had said that they'd met for the first time today, but he is asking about her condition and waiting for her to wake up and now his attention is on the girl. It is obvious that the student is something of a good person, so Shinra smiles and asks him, "What's your name?"

"Fenris." He muttered. "Fenris Candor. Fourth year. I am afraid I didn't catch your name, Dr...?"

"Dr. Kishitani! Good to meet you, Fenris." He would have shaken the boy's hand, but Rainbow-dash was between them and occupying both of their attention right now. "Thank you for bringing her in."
It might be awhile before the girl woke up, and he was curious about the student, so he asked curiously, "How is your year going so far?"
