Normally Shinra would never have need of this room. There was a small office in the back of the hospital wing, and that was where he spent most of his time. But when he'd returned from reattaching some girl's ear after she botched a spell, he had been greeted by a sign that informed him that the hospital wing was 'closed for repairs'. A little amused (what were the students supposed to do, then? Walk it off?) he had retreated to the staff room with a stack of student profiles to work his way through while he waited.
And that was where he was now, paging through the sheets of parchment and adding careful case notes to each.

Fiona bustled into the staff room, a large stack of reference books balanced in front of her and possibly the worlds grumpiest owl perched on her shoulder. She set the books down on the closest table with a relieved sigh and stretched her stiff arms upward, upsetting her snowy companion and setting him to indignant hooting. "Shush now." she murmurer. The owl shot her a dirty look and quieted, but oh, if looks could kill! She turned to take a seat in one of the comfortable chairs that inhabited the room, and only then noticed that someone else seemed to have had a similar idea. "Oh, I'm so sorry!" she squeaked, "I didn't see you there!" she was afraid that the man (Dr. Kishitani, wasn't it?) would think she had been rudely ignoring him.

Shinra paused in what he was doing, a parchment file half open in front of him. He peered over the top of it curiously at the woman who had just entered the room. She was one of his coworkers; pretty, he supposed, but not really his type (too much above the neck for that). He knew that she had lots of admirers amongst both students and teachers, and that she was softspoken, but not any more than that. He'd never actually had a full conversation with her or interacted with her at all. So, because he was bored and she was there he tossed the file down onto the table and grinned widely at her, waving a hand dismissively. "Not a problem at all!" He hopped to his feet, knocking his chair into the wall behind him, and came over to peer curiously at the grumpy owl, putting one hand to his chin. "And who's this?" he asked playfully.

She jumped a little when the chair hit the wall, but tried her best not to shrink back into herself as she normally did. This was one of her coworker after all, she should get know him better. Besides, he seemed like an open, friendly sort of person. Try as she might though, her voice still came out in a squeak when she answered him. "Uh, t-this is Angel. B-but be careful! He can be a little... snappy, sometimes." Angel turned the stink eye on Dr. Kishitani as she spoke. For something named Angel, he looked remarkably un-angelic.

"Angel, huh? Is she a real angel, then, from heaven?" He wasn't mocking her; it was something of an honest question, although what sort of person would be honest about asking that?
He reached out a hand to the bird, ignoring the woman's warning and Angel's own nasty expression.

Mimiko walked into the room, looking straight away for a coffee maker. Instead, he found an angry owl glaring at whom she supposed was the doctor, and the shy coworker she'd seen, but never spoken to. She looked around. Didn't teachers ALWAYS have coffee on hand? What kind of break room didn't have a coffee maker? Then she took in the torches lighting the room and sighed. The one that's lit by torches and doesn't have electricity, apparently.

"I wouldn't..." But it was to late. As the charms professor walked into the room, Angel's sharp little beak darted out and bit down hard on the doctor's outstretched hand. Fiona hurriedly stepped back, trying to persuade her owl to let go, but he resolutely hung on to the point were he seemed perfectly willing to fall off her shoulder in order to do so. She garbled apologies as she tried to yank the stubborn owl away, finally grabbing the bird under one arm and prying his beak open with her other hand.

Shinra yelped in surprise, jumping back, but the owl came with him. As Fluttershy pulled Angel off of his hand, the situation sunk in and he started laughing. "I guess I deserved that, huh?" He peered at the blood running down his finger with an amused expression.

Mimiko blinked. Had that owl just attempted to eat someone? She shook her head. Back in Japan, they didn't really have owls that commonly. Most people had other bird species, or cats. There were a lot of cats. She paused, wondering if it was acceptable to bring her cat to school with her. Accidentally, she muttered the question aloud. "Could we bring cats to class?"

"To class?" He thought for a moment. "I think you could get away with it. Are you planning to have your students dissect it?" Although students were limited in what animals they could bring, teaches had a much more leeway.

Mimiko gasped. "No! I..." She was horrified at the thought. "I would never have them dissect Sir-Pounce-A-Lot!"

Fiona was equally upset by the prospect of kitty dissection. "Why... why would anyone do something like that...?" She said, casting Mimiko a look of shared horror and clutching Angel just a little bit closer.

Hoo boy; maybe mentioning dissection in front of two such sweet-natured women had been a mistake. He should probably apologize. "I'm sorry; I misspoke. It was a simple question." Actually, it was somewhat of a surprise that neither of them had punched him yet. They were obviously nicer than the sort of people he spent his time with.

Mimiko shook the thought out of her head. "No, it's fine. I just... That caught me off guard."

Remy Fournier's mustache nearly bounced with his strides as he waltzed into to the staff room. He had a few books in his arms, most notably one called When Muggles Attack that he'd managed to stealthily procure from a... A rather "troubled" youth, let's say. While he was initially tempted to burn it in private, he'd decided to look it over first... Really, it seemed like something his father might have enjoyed in the old days. Truly disgusting stuff... it was downright sad that some wizards and witches actually thought such horrid things about muggles.
Putting those depressing thoughts aside, Remy walked over to a table and put the books down, only then turning to address the other staff members in the room. Preparing for the introduction, he put on a wide grin and raised a finger in the air... But then his coworkers' conversation might have taken an odd turn. Their faces - most of which he recognized, but couldn't really match a name to - looked a bit bewildered... Horrified really, in the women's cases. Remy's smile drooped, and he let out an awkward little chuckle. He waited for a lull in their chat before he dared to speak.
"Er, sorry. Am I interrupting something here?"
