Hearing her name being called, she calmly turned towards the voice. Hm, I didn't get scared that time... Perhaps the disease is wearing off...
Seeing Fenris, she smiled and returned his wave. "Hey!" she called back. Her hawk cocked its head in wonder, watching Fenris carefully. Shion began to stroke the bird. "Relax, he's very kind." she whispered to her feathered companion.

"Thanks," Mac replied. "See you." He wasn't sure when he would see her. She was much older and so far, there were no classes that included both Ravenclaws and Slytherins yet, but maybe they would see each other in the halls at some point. He waved goodbye, walking through the entrance to the Quidditch Field. A voice yelled, almost in his ear, and he turned slightly to see another Slytherin, this time a boy, sitting just inside the field. He had called out to Shion, so Mac continued past him. Mac thought he kind of looked like the boy from the Hospital Wing, but he hadn't gotten a good look at him then.
Coming to a stop near the middle of the field, he moved Coco onto his lower arm. "Alright, one loop around the field, fly through all goal posts. Go!" He shook his arm in an upward motion and Coco took off into the air, starting toward one end of the field.

Fenris was still slightly creeped out by the hawk, and also by the boy who was teaching his owl to be... A chaser? Fenris turned to him and waved. Hogwarts was all about branching out, and making friends. So why shouldn't he branch out? "Fenris Candor."

Shion wasn't quite sure what to do, so she stood, cooing at her hawk softly and feeding her a few treats.

Mac turned to face the other, trusting Coco to complete the exercise without further guidance. "Mac McCracken," he replied. His eyes widened as they spotted the broom at his feet. As a first year, he wasn't allowed to have a broom yet and he still had yet to see one in action.

Fenris followed Mac's eyes down to the broom. Of course. He'd never seen one in action. Well, he probably wouldn't today. Unless Amitola showed up. Then... maybe. He stared dejectedly at it, and hoped that he didn't make too much of a fool out of himself when she showed up. He was auditioning to be Slytherin's seeker, after all. He had to have some skill SOMEWHERE.

Seeing the two boys conversing, Shion continued her walk to the castle.

It became apparent that maybe Fenris knew about as much about flying on brooms as he did. So he stood there awkwardly, not really sure how to bring the Slytherin into a conversation. Luckily, Coco returned then, landing once more on his head. He laughed and stroked her back. "Good job, girl," he said, taking a chocolate frog out of his pack and breaking off a leg before it could hop away. He held it up to her, and she snapped it up in her beak, gulping it down greedily. "Did you make it through all the hoops ok?" She hooted down at him. "Great." He broke off another leg and let her eat that one too.

Fenris blinked. "Did you... just talk to your owl?" He paused. Would that really be so strange if he could? Wasn't there some grandfather or something in his mom's family that could talk to snakes? "That's interesting."

Mac laughed. "Not really. I think she can sort of understand what we are saying by body language and tone and such. As for me, I've gotten used to all of the variations in her hooting and nipping and body language that I feel like I can understand her as well. We spent a lot of time together before school started." He felt like an idiot for talking to his owl in front of somebody. But still, he glanced up at her again. "Stretch out your wing for me," he said, touching the one he meant. Coco obeyed, and Mac quickly caught the slight hitch as it approached full length. "Hm, still not fully better. How about one short loop around those posts?" He pointed to the ones on his left, and Coco hooted and flew off.

"Did she get an injury?" Fenris asked, watching her fly. Now magical creatures was a subject he actually liked. "I could take a look at her."

"Could you?" Mac was glad to hear this. He didn't know anything about owl injuries and had been doing what the shopkeeper had suggested, but nothing seemed to be working yet. Whistling shrilly, he called out for Coco, who quickly veered toward him and landed on his arm. He held her toward Fenris. "Coco got into a fight with some other owls in the shop before I bought her. The keeper said to make sure she got plenty of exercise, that it would work itself out, but she hasn't gotten much better yet. I think something happened to her wing."

Fenris was quite comfortable around most owls, and took Coco onto his arm. He tenderly touched the wing that had been bothering her. "Did the owner check her for breaks? A broken wing on an owl, especially an active one that's getting lost of exercise, can take months to heal, and even then might not heal correctly." He looked at Mac. "If her wing is broken, I can set it with some cardboard and tape. Crude, yes, but effective."

"The shopkeeper didn't know. He sounded like a stand-in or something, didn't really know much about the owls he was selling." Mac's eyes widened. "Do you think it's broken?"

Jim finally made it to the mysterious flyer as two others made it to the field and didn’t hesitate to wake the guy up. “Hey!” He then noticed it was a broomstick that the guy had used. He almost slapped himself in the face for not noticing that earlier. Forget his flying machine, they’ve already made something awesome, he just had to learn how to use it, and that wouldn’t take long at all. He could already see how the mechanics of steering it would work out and he was picturing it in his head with crystal clear images.
