Fenris felt her wing again and nodded solemnly. "It might be. I think I can bandage it though."

"That would be super helpful," Mac replied. He vaguely became aware that his usual social awkwardness had yet to surface around Fenris. Maybe because he was somewhat quiet and calm, maybe because he was interested in owls and Coco had been a way to immediately break the ice. He mentally shrugged it off. "But where would you get the stuff to do that?"

"All I need is some cardboard or something of equivalent thickness, and some way to stick them together. Like with a bandage, or tape. After that, she should be good as new in a few weeks." Fenris looked down at Mac. He didn't seem uncomfortable around him, which was a change. Most people took Fenris' attitude as snooty or even just plain rude, but not this boy. He smiled, which was rare unless it was forced or something was very funny, and gave him Coco back. "Now we just need to find these things."

Mac took Coco back, gingerly placing her on his head again- it was her favorite perch. He took his pack off his shoulder, and opened it up, holding it awkwardly in the air as he looked through it. "Let's see...I still have a small roll of bandages left from earlier today. As for cardboard..." He reached in and pulled out his hastily made notebook where he kept his sketches when they were done. Both covers were made from cardboard, something he had found lying around the house. Mac frowned. "I guess I could use one of these."

Fenris noticed the boy looked sad. He looked around for anything else that they could use. "Hold on." He walked over to one of the towers, and looked around for anything else that could be used besides Mac's notebook. He seemed to cherish it. He found a small box, though what it was used for he really didn't know. The lid, however, was just the right size and thinness to fit on the owl's wing. Fenris opened the box, and there didn't seem to be anything inside, and so he unhinged the lid and took it out. Just as he stepped out of the shade of the tower, he saw two brown streaks fly by, followed by a smaller, zippy yellow one. The yellow ball paused momentarily in front of his face. It was a small circle propelled by white wings, like a hummingbird. Where had he seen this before...? It zipped off before he could get a second, closer look. Those two brown shapes were much larger though, and were now zipping around the quidditch feild....

It seemed Fenris noticed his reluctance to use the notebook, and he waited as the older boy walked off. Maybe he knew someplace close by to get some cardboard. A few minutes passed, and the sound of something whizzing by made him turn his head, careful not to disturb Coco. There were two large brown round shapes now flying crazily around the Quidditch Field. Mac's eyes widened. What in the world?!

Fenris returned to stand by Mac. "Do you know what those things are? He asked, watching the balls zoom around the field. Suddenly, one of the brown balls hit the ground in front of him, causing him to jump backward. "What the?!"

He was so busy watching the balls that he didn't notice when Fenris rejoined him, a cardboard lid in his hand. He jumped, but covered it up by responding, "No, but I know I've read about them somewhere." Mac again dived into his pack and pulled out Quidditch Through the Ages. "Ah-ha! Here it is!" Rifling through the pages, he jumped back when the ball hit the ground between him and Fenris. Hard. "Found it! It's called a Bludger. They use them in Quidditch games, to...to...attack the players!! And I think they think we're the players!" Grabbing Coco in his hands, he barely ducked in time to avoid being hit by another of the Bludgers whizzing past.

Fenris sighed. "Of course they do." He nimbly avoided the second bludger attack. "Does your book say anything about calling them off or whatever?"

Mac jumped aside as a Bludger pounded against the stands near him. "Well, Beaters hit the balls away with bats during the game. And the referees handle them before and after. So, I'm guessing we need to get a professor out here!" Flinging himself backward, Mac fell to the ground as he lost his balance and a Bludger hit the dirt right at his feet. "Not good, not good, not good!"

Fenris knew that the younger boy was never going to consistently be able to dodge these bludgers. He had to do something, but he was no good with spells. And there was an injured owl to take care of too... Fenris looked down at his broom, willing it to do SOMETHING.

Mac scrambled back up quickly, mindful of Coco who was still in his arms. He looked to the older boy for guidance, and he was....staring at his broom?! "If you're not going to use it to fly," he yelled at Fenris, all control lost, "then use it to whack back at these things, or something!"

Fenris looked at Mac, then looked at the broom. It would probably break with the force of those things. "Hold on." He grabbed the broom and hopped on, praying for at least the first year's sake that it worked. And suddenly Fenris was being lifted jerkily off the ground, steadily rising.

Before Jim could even wake the mysterious flyer up, he saw two brown blurs zipping around and trying to attack two other students. Jim was hesitant for a moment; he didn’t know what to do. Then, he saw the mysterious flyer’s broom He wont mind if I borrow it for a little bit, will he? He grabbed the broom, mounted it, and took off fast towards the blurs.
Then it hit him. He didn’t know how to fly. and what was he doing? Flying. He was a natural, the adrenaline rush, the feeling of wind in his hair, he was getting more and more psyched! He flew straight at the blurs and curved around them in an attempt to make them to follow him around. Perhaps that would give the two students enough time to come up with a plan.

Fenris watched the other kid that had taken off. With what seemed like a thought, he zoomed forward, toward the bludgers. If he could get them to follow him, they wouldn't be a danger to anyone else. One bludger started following him, and another followed the other flying student. Fenris zoomed away, slightly sporadically, praying that his broom was going forward enough to stay ahead.
