Being an underage wizard had several downfalls...and on New Years Eve, the biggest one was the inability to get served alcoholic beverages. Not anything strong at any rate.
But, as Fai had learnt where there was a will, there was a way. And the way was in a very unique room. The room of requirement. When he peeked in after coming up with this solution to test if it would work, he found it well stocked with all sorts of drink. After that he invited a few of their classmates to come by ('their' because he was going to drag kurogane with him....the Hufflepuff needed a few drinks and some fun).
And so he went to the Room earlyish to make sure it was free and would be ready. With a few adjustments it was decorated; glitterballs floated in the air, and magical lights danced across the room. There was a table on one side with plenty of drinks and another smaller table held snacks that he'd asked the elves (nicely) to cook up. There were chairs and with a flick of his wand a wizarding wireless radio flicked on to provide music (not loud enough to catch the teachers attention though).
Fai staerted on the drink with a grin.

Shion entered in, dressed in a casual get-up. She had almost not come at all, due to the incident that happened at the last event. Her hair was tied up, and so she resembled her sister more than usual. But no one else would know that.
She smiled at Fai. "Hey there." she said, offering him a soft smile.

Edge cautiously entered. He'd had a bit of a crappy year, so for the new year, he figured it was time for a new Edge, and it reflected in his style of dress. He'd done away with his usual mask and had decided not to spike up his hair, instead letting it hang loosely, partially obscuring his eyes. He'd put on a black long-sleeve and a pair of cargo jeans to complete his 'New Edge' look. He noticed that Shion had already arrived, and he flashed back to the last party he'd been at with her and winced. That had not turned out too well...
He nervously walked over to her and the blonde boy who was also there (Fai, if he remembered correctly.) "Hey, guys." He grinned somewhat sheepishly.

Shion grinned at the familiar voice. "Edge, I'm surprised," she said as she turned to look at him, "you actually.. showed.." her voice trailed away. He looked... Wow. He just looked wow. A soft blush graced her cheeks, but she coughed, forcing herself out of a trance. "You look, uh, good." She smiled sheepishly.

Edge shrugged and looked away. "You think so? I kinda just figured it was time to turn a new leaf, move past all the things that happened." He scratched his cheek lightly. "I was thinking I should start dressing like this more often."

"Well, you look great." Shion turned her eyes away, waiting for her blush to fade. "Last party we went to didn't turn out so well, did it?" She giggled.

Edge chuckled. "You can say that again. Of all the things that could happen, it had to be Dementors." He shuddered at the memory of those horrible things. "Hopefully, tonight'll go better." He smiled at Shion, glad to see his friend.
"Oh! I forgot to ask you, how was your Christmas?" He brushed his hair out of his eyes. How did people live with their hair like that?

"Ah, it was nice..." she said, rubbing her arms, her eyes on the ground. She had spent her holiday in her room, crying and self-loathing. She had no one to spend Christmas, or any other holiday, with anymore. Because she had rid herself of them. "How was yours?"

Edge's smile faded. "Ehh... It was OK. My parents sent me a care package with my favorite snacks and such, my cousins sent me manga. Unfortunately, Rydia sent me a letter. She's fine. Hell, more than fine. She has a new boyfriend..." He looked away. "She also wanted to see me again. After she essentially ripped out my heart and stomped on it. What do I say to that?" He looked over at the drinks. They were starting to look rather appealing...

"Rydia?" Shion remembered the girl he had so often mistaken her for when they first met, and how he was so sad when he spoke of her. Shion ran a hand through her hair, thinking on it. "Uhm.. Well... I don't know... If my old love did all that..." she would have killed him. If he had hurt her like that. But Satoshi was good and pure. Her heart sank at the thought. "I dunno.."

Edge sighed and shook his head. "To be brutally honest, I'm done with her. For 16 years, I chased her, and for 16 years I've been treated like garbage. It's time for me to move on." He shoved his hands into his pockets and grinned at Shion, his eyes gleaming with determination. "2012 marks a new chapter in my life! No more moping around over Rydia! The new Edge is a determined, honest Edge!" He quickly ran over to the table and grabbed two colorful drinks, then ran back, handing one to Shion. "To a new, and hopefully happier year!"

Shion grabbed the cup quickly, before he could spill it, and smiled at him. "To a happy new year." She knocked her cup against his, but didn't drink. She didn't have much faith that the oncoming year would be any better for her, but she was happy for Edge. "Your new determination could catch the eye of a new lady, Edge. Best be careful." she jested.

Edge took a gulp of his drink, still smiling. "That's the idea, Shion-hime." He downed the rest and set his cup down. "I may have moved on, but by no means do I plan on staying single. By the time I graduate from here, I plan on having found the REAL girl of my dreams."

Shion giggled. "Wish I could say the same. You won't forget about me and our plans, will you?" She lightly sipped at her drink, but really wasn't thirsty, she was just waiting for his response.

Edge looked at Shion directly, all mirth gone from his eyes. "Shion, I'd never forget a promise to a friend, especially not someone I consider my best friend." He smiled lightly and placed a hand on her shoulder. "Remember, as long as you have that bracelet, I'll come back for you. Even if I had to face Hell itself, I'd return." He grinned cockily.
