Kurogane nearly spat his drink over the blonde when he called him big badger, he looked at him after swallowing the drink and gave him a what the hell look. Where the hell had that nickname come from.
"I dont need to think of any resolutions... i'm fine the way i am," said Kurogane.

The reaction the nickname got him was priceless; he could barely keep a straight face. The look said that the nickname had been lost on him, and not appreciated for its creativeness all the same. Still the subject was changed and he smiled, refraining from replying with 'damn fine!'. "I'm not saying that you're not fine how you are....i was just curious." his smile was genuine, though a touch sad. If only he could say the same....there was so much he would wish to change.

Kurogane looked at him for a moment longer, then took another drink. Glancing around the room wondering why it was so quiet. Only two other people were here and they seemed busy talking to each other. Kuro turned his attention back to Fai, then glanced at the table that had food on it stomach gurgling hungrily.
He blushed a little then wandered to the table to see what was there.

Fai didnt seem to mind the smaller gathering; a lot of people would have gone back home for the holidays anyway. But with what had happened to Kuroganes parents, Fai had told Ashura that he would stay to help a friend. He hadn't wanted kurogane's first christmas alone to be completly alone. Besides he had drink and no teachers to tell them off.
The Ravenclaw drunk happilly, feeling a little giddy already...maybe he should make some resolutions. He had something to push him to be a better person. So..slightly tipsy resolution number one...stop lying....quite so much.

Kurogane picked at the food that was on the table, nibbling the pie. There was all sorts of pie, sweets, sandwiches and many other nibbles. The room of requirement really thought of everything.
After filling a plate he returned to Fai and took a seat setting the food down on the small table, starting to pick bits off it.

Fai smiled and perched on a chair at the small table, on his next drink. With a little cheeky grin, he pinched stuff from Kuroganes plate. "Perhaps though, you might consider a resolution or two....like...stop smoking behind the broomshed? Or less cussing when a spell goes awry?" he was teasing of course....he was sure kurogane could think of plenty of things to improve Fai's behaviour.

"Tch.... dont be stupid," said Kuro, he was fine with how he was. If people didnt like it, it was tough. People werent perfect and all the New Years resolutions in the world couldnt put everyone right.
He sighed pulling the plate away from the blonde who was stealing food from it, picking a slice of pizza up and took a large bite from it.

(backtrackin a lil to before midnight for them)
Fai pouted cutely when the snacks were pulled away from him. He finished off his drink, blushing as he ended up giving a little hiccup. Maybe he should ease up on the drink a little....after all, he didnt want to get to pass out before midnight. Speaking of which, the clock on the wall showed it was getting closer. He saw another couple dancing, and was pretty sure he wouldn't convince Kuropon to dance...he was a stubborn badger.
So he wandered to the food table to get himself something. Well....he danced over, hips swaying to the music gracefully despite this slightly tipsy state.

Kuro watched as Fai danced over to the food, watching the sway of his hips as he moved. Blushing he looked away hoping no one had noticed him looking at the blonde's behind, suddenly finding his plate very interesting.
He finished off the slice of pizza he had in his hand, taking a swig of his alcholic beverage before looking back up.

Fai loaded a plate up....a few savoury things, but mostly sweets. Slightly drunken resolution number 2; perhaps a slightly healthier diet might be in order. Starting tomorrow. He danced his way back to the hufflepuff, grabbing another drink on the way and noticing the slight tinge of pink in his cheeks and feeling his lips quirk in a little grin. He was tempted to sit on kuroganes lap, but thought better of it....at the moment anyway. Another drink or two and the sensible side of his brain would be quiet.
He started to eat, the quiet between them not uneasy as it had been only a couple of months before. Shyly, he slid a foot forward, leg gently resting against Kuroganes under the table. He was learning to start small, and then work up to bigger displays of affection. Of course, sometimes just planting a kiss on his cheek and running off was fun too.

Kuro watched Fai sit down, blushing when he felt Fai's leg rest against his own. Glancing around to make sure no one was looking. No one seemed to be so he stayed where he was, not pulling back.
He finished what was left on the plate and then sat back sipping his drink, he glanced up at the ceiling sighing deeply. Feelnig the warmth of the alcohol slowly creeping through his body.

Fai looked content; blushing Kurogane was a good sight. With each swig of drink, he looked more relaxed, but his eyes were no less guarded. His smile got a little wider, and sillier. "Not long now, Kuro-puu!" he remarked after a glance at the clock. Another gulp of drink....he wondered if Kuro would deck him if he tried to dance with him. A wicked grin lit up his face as he tried to imagine Kuros reaction to getting a lapdance - he would be dead....after the Hufflepuff stopped blushing.

Kurogane glanced at the clock when Fai mentioned that it was getting closer, ten minutes to midnight. He stared at the bottle staring at the liquid inside of it losing himself to his thoughts. Wondering if next year would be better.
It felt like very little had happened this year mostly towards the beginning of the year, he'd attended school like usual and gotten on with his work at Hogwarts. Just the same old boring life to deal with.
Then September had come, Kurogane had come home to find Police and Ambulance crews and his parents dead.... murdered. Kurogane had never felt such loneliness. He'd lost his parents. Even though he had gained a whole new family when Tomoyo's family had taken him in and he was grateful to them, he didn't always feel like he belonged. They were always kind but sometimes he saw the way his step parents looked at him and he saw the pity they had for him; he knew they didn't mean to do it, but it always made him remember that he was still alone, despite being surrounded by people.
The New Year was closing in quickly, a new that he would have to face without his parents. He bit his lip still staring into the bottle, his face had darkened along with his mood. Suddenly not feeling like he wanted to party.

It took a minute or two longer before Fai realised the mistake of giving Kurogane alcohol. He saw the Hufflepuffs expression go from blushy to dour and somber, finally remembering the last time Kurogane had gotten drunk. Whilst it had ended well enough (sort of....the kiss was fun) the rest of it had not been great. Of course the raven haired boy had plenty to be somber and angsty about; he'd lost his family. But Fai didn't like seeing the young man upset....he wanted to do whatever he could to get even a little smile from the other student, and make him feel not so alone.
"Don't make that face, Kuro-pon....at parties you're supposed to forget everthing and just have some fun." he shuffled the chair a little closer, resting a hand on Kuroganes knee lightly. "And if you don't cheer up, i'll be forced to make you!" he threatened.

Kuro felt the loss slowly dragging him down, he looked up whem Fai spoke. He knew he shouldnt feel down, but he couldnt help it.
"I'm sorry... I should go," said Kuro standing up. He didnt want to bring Fai down with him.
